How many striaght losing tickets would it take before you stopped playing, or would you ever?

I'm talking losers, no 2 of 5 or 3 of 6, no payouts whatsoever.

There have been times when I wanted to just quit playing, and I have for short periods of times. But eventually I end up playing again. I figure putting a few dollars down for a drawing is worth the dream of winning something big.

I just play for larger pots now. Haven't won anything since 1995 so I guess I'll just keep playing.

That's the draw of lotto - a buck lost isn't going to change your life but a winner certainly would.

I worked in casinos and saw hundreds of people hit royal flushes on video poker - amd not one of them ever retired by doing so!

My Ex-Husband, the Math Whiz, used to rag on me all the time for playing.  I am not stupid.  I realize the odds.  But someone's got to win, and it could be me as well as the person down the road.  It's a dream.  We all need dreams.  His was to sell the house and all our possessions and go around the world on a sailboat.   I didn't like his dream any better than he liked mine!  LOL!

I consider a loss a temporary set back because every ticket is a potential winner.

I've been tempted but never stopped is my vote. I'm still waiting for WB 6 and Mega 6 occur in CA SLP. If I win a jackpot in CA SLP or MM, I'll stop for good.

I haven't won anything from Powerball since last November, but I still keep playing, but only one ticket per draw regardless of jackpot size because it takes only one to win. Why spend $2 on the same dream you can have for just $1? However, I now play the same quick pick for three draws at a time.

I never really thought much about it.  I'm not playing with "scared money".  so like a pack of cigs, a 12 pack of beer, an occasional movie rental, dinner at a restaurant,  playing is just one more form of entertainment for me.

Hi, Crimsicle. Glad to know you're writing about an "EX" huband!!  LOL

I hear that all the time, but if you read the press releases, many people who hold executive positions play the lottery. In FL some of the large jackpot winners have been a doctor in Miami, a stockbroker on Marco Island and a few schoolteachers. The stereotype portraying desperate people who skip meals to buy tickets is very exaggerated, although there are many of those poor souls too.  Some people think it's a waste of money, a stupid dream or they just don't want to play, but everyone wants to win!  I will bet that the people who "rag" on lottery players are the first to ask for a piece of the pie when someone else hits the jackpot.

Oh, to answer the poll, I think about stopping but I really never do. However, as I've said many times on this board, I cut way back last year and decided to cut out the other games (Fantasy 5, MegaMoney) because my income dropped, but I always play my Lotto numbers on Wed and Sat.  I began losing in NH & MA over 30 years ago and I've been losing in FL for the last 12 years, so I doubt if I'll be stopping anytime soon.

                            1. I didn't know I was supposed to win.

                            2. Its just another hobby that I have, a little expensive but I enjoy my hobby.

                            3. I use the losing tickets as wallpaper and I still have three walls to go.

                            4. I help support education.

                            5. Its my way of giving back.

                            6. I really am insane, I really am insane, I really am insane.......

im in for the big win. if i won something back while waiting it just makes my tickets a little cheaper. i aint a big spender and now , well for  few years ive been soing a syndicate and spreading the cost between 5 people.

we hardly ever win enough to pay the next 10 weeks worth of entries, but  sometimes we win half that.
