People talk about moving if they win, but where is the best place to live if you win a big jackpot?

For one thing, I'd like a place with a nice climate, good tax structure so I can keep more of what I won, somewhere easy to remain relatively anonymous, somewhere peaceful and quiet.

Does anyone know of such a place?

I don't think I know of a place with a good tax structure, (maybe Florida or Nevada) but I would probably stay in my state just in a different neighborhood. Although I might decide to move to one of the other states where some of my family lives.

For me it would be some place very obscure, not a place a jackpot winner would go to-  no trendy, yuppie place - and cool summers would be a must.

Maybe hit a jackpot and live in one of those empty missle silos up in the Dakotas.

The best place would be: The place where my health is good, my family is well and none need ever know the violance and devastation of war, disease, and economic dispare. If anyone knows where that is on map, you might find me there with a smile on my face and the love of my friends and family.

We are looking at Reno, NV area.  Nice climate, one of the best areas in the United States for cost of living.  No State Income Tax!!  We love Southern California, but it is getting too expensive to live here.

To each his own but if I hit a lottery jackpot the last place you'd find me is a smoke-filled, loud casino.

GameGrl has a wonderful idea and maybe winning money can help someone achieve some of those goals.   Personally, as long as I'm not stuck in one place, I can live almost anywhere. I'd have enough money to hop on a plane to visit relatives. I definitely would move out of Florida because it's too hot for me most of the time. Right now I'd enjoy a climate where a home doesn't require 24/7 cooling or heating, so I can open up the windows and take a deep breath! (Tobago looks very pretty.) There are many good choices. On the other hand, I grew up gallivanting around Boston and Cambridge, and I really like Manhattan too, so I'd probably travel for about a year first to see where I feel the most comfortable. If I won a large enough jackpot, I'd probably buy more than one home anyway. I know this contradicts other posts where I said I want a simple life in the country, but who really knows what they'll do until it really happens?  With enough money I can have that log cabin in the mountains of Western NC and a townhouse in the city and fulfill both desires.

The movie was filmed only a ways from my town. My youngest sister knows a few people who appeared in the movie. It was a big deal around here. lol.
