The  BIGGEST PAY OUT I have won so far was JUN 28 2006...I matched  3 WHITE BALLS AND THE POWERBALL. The ORIGINAL PAY OUT would have been $100 BUCKS but I POWER PLAYED and the MULTIPLIER was 5 so I WON $500 BUCKS .(BEST $6 I EVER SPENT...LOL)  Since then I POWER PLAY every time and  I win anywhere from $6-$45 depends onTHE MULIT.&  BALLS I pick. I AM WAITNG ON THE *BIG SCORE* OUT THERE..MAYBE NOT THE JACKPOT BUT A SIZABLE AMOUNT I THINK I WILL HIT SOON.

I DO KNOW SOMEONE CLOSE TO WHERE I STAY(BUT NOT PERSONALLY) HIT $400,000 PLAYING POWERBALL..HE IS FROM ELIZABETHTOWN,NC AND PURCHASED THE TICKET FROM WHERE I GET MINE AT SOMETIMES.

DARE TO DREAM THE POSSIBILITIES!!!!

Twice hit straight Pick 4's in MD. for $5,000 each past two years, several $400-$600 range in Keno and Bonus match Five.  I always reccommend keeping losing tickets cause of the tax man. You have to fill out a form for amounts over $600.00 at the place you cash in, then they send you a couple of weeks later a W2-G form for gambling winnings which you report as income on your taxes. You then can deduct up to your winning amount your gambling losses which needs to be documentable by losing tickets since they are the only receipt you have.  Of course heavier players that pay taxes and do 10-40's every year like myself have no problem hanging on to every ticket on the hopes of hitting a decent amount in the 600 to 15k range, anything after that 15K to 60K you (myself) go to the local lottery place and start collecting losing tix out of the trash immediately.  I have changed my strategy to playing multiples of the same numbers and figuring out if I hit one of these and collecting the money in the most efficient manner. In MD., a retailer plus lottery store can pay out up to $10,000 and they don't take the taxes there, you do it at tax time.  If you win more than 10K on a single ticket you have to go to the lottery office and collect.  I hope to do this sooner or later and find out what they do, my guess is that they zap you right there, and then its taxes paid on the old 10-40 at tax time. At that time you could claim gambling losses I am assuming. I certainly would have the tickets if I were to claim,  and within my income range to make those ticket purchases in case of audit.

The moral of the story is if you play heavy save your tix. in case you get lucky.  I can just imagine going to collect 400k and coming away with 280K which is what your left with after taxes. A $120,000 is a lot of money!

Another moral of the the story with large cash prizes in the U.S.A. "Easy Come, Easy Go".

Everybody says "it's money I didn't have before" yeah, right, not only do they (the state govts.) get all the losers' money for the state (billions), the losing players pay for everything to operate the lottery and their salaries (lottery people), then they tax you again if you win (the "win" being a return on your investment).  It is the same as paying income tax on money one works for, investing it and getting taxed again when you get a return from investing, it is an evil, vicious legal way of keeping their hands in our pockets, no matter what.

Final moral of the story "Taxes from the day you're born, till the day you die"

It's nice to hear about you guys with the big wins. Gives the people like me who've never won anything over $100 encouragement to keep trying.

I've gotten 5 of 6 (with the kicker option) on Oregon Megabucks twice in the past 15 years - once for $1900 and once for $2400. I've also gotten 4 of 6 on Megabucks quite a few times - I seem to hit that about 3-4 times a year. That varies in amount but with the "kicker" it's usually about $160. The biggest Powerball win I've ever had was 3 of 5 + PB with kicker = $400.  Still waiting for the "BIG" one ;)

i won $160  on a pick 3 double once.  I have had 2 other times where I won $80 on boxed hits.  I only play on paper now.  I lost too much money over the years.
