If Henny is Betting $600 per Month ($20 x 30) isn't he trying to Win $15,000 ($500 x 30)?

Raven62

Actually, no - he's trying to win a Pick 3 on any given one day, which by his own admission hasn't happened yet.

More importantly, if he's betting $600 per month on an income of $1432 and has not had a winner, trying to win $15,000 is not his biggest problem.

Since he said he has not had a winner let's say he's trying to win $500 (or $600 or whatever the payoff for that particular Pick 3) once, and if he's indeed stuck $600 a month, every month, he could hit and not 'get out'.

henny,

When this thread went up I figured most people would miss what you said about monthly income. A lot of people here can't relate to fixed income, or assume people have 'deep pockets'.

I would suggest tomning down your play before you do anything else - figure out your lottery playing as a percentage of your income and you might rethink how much you want to throw at a maybe.

No need to buy those $150 systems - just poke around this board, especially in lottery systems, and look at some of the "workouts" posted by Raven62, lottoluahgs, and many others.

    Coin Toss,

    I was just trying to put the Betting and the Winning on the same scale. Big Grin Everyone Bets with the expectation of Winning, so if Henny Bet $20 each day for 30 days and each day he expected to Win $500 and if he infact did Win each day at the end of 30 Days he would have had the tidy sum of $15,000 minus $600 or $14,400. If Henny hit twice in 30 days he'd be $400 to the good, which is more or less what he said he was looking to do.

    Henny,

    Be sure to checkout Coin Toss' Workouts too: Thay are right on the Money!

      Thanks Raven62 and Coin Toss. Didn't mean to stir things up.  I just started playing Pick 3 this month. I don't play every day. I am down about $140 for the month of October. I have hit 2 out of 3 numbers twice, but no cigar yet. With such a small BR, that's why my combinations are so tight. I think I'll take your advice and watch and read what you folks advise.

      QUESTION: If you play $5 on a ticket and it hits, does it pay $2,500? For a $1 exact Pick3 it pays $500. If you do hit on a $5 ticket, do you fill out an IRS form? To stay "under the radar" do you suggest purchasing $1 tickets at different places? I'm trying to think positive here.

      REALLY DUMB QUESTION: What is the difference between "Any Order" and "Exact Any Order"?

      Thanks again.

        If you play $5 exact order and it wins, yes, you win $500 x 5= $2500. You can only cash that ticket in at a Texas Lottery Headquarters and yes you have to fill out the IRS form. The IRS will send you a bill for about $700+ if you do not voluntarily calculate and pay them their tax.It may take a year or two for them to catch up with you but, trust me they will and it will be at the worst possible time. Ask me how I know this. You are much better off playing your Exact number on separate tickets so that when you win you can cash them in at your local Lottery store. It doesn't matter if you buy them all at the same place because they are separate. Most big supermarkets will easily cash $1500, no questions asked, (three $500 winners), or so at a time, and if they don't have enough just go to another one, or go back the next day. No tax forms etc. You still have to pay the IRS their tax when you calculate your income.
        Any order means you win $40 for a .50 cent bet no mater what the order is. For instance the winning number is 123...you win $40 even if you played 231, 312, 321, 213, 132 or 123. If you play for $1 you win $40x2=$80. Exact/Any can only be played starting at $1, (Exact order for .50 and Any order for .50= $1) If you played 123 then you won in Exact order, 1 2 3 and win $250 for Exact and also $40 for Any order= $290. If you played 2 3 1 you do not win $250 because you did not have the exact order but you still win $40 for Any order, 2 3 1. If you played 231 Exact order for $1 then you win $0. I prefer to at least win $40 by playing Exact/Any than play Exact and win nothing. If I have three numbers that I really like, for instance 1+2+3, but can't nail the exact order that they might win, I will play all six combinations Any order for $1. If 123 is the winner I win 6x$80=$480. If I also play Exact order six times for $1 each one of them will win $500. My total cost is $12 and I have won $480+$500=$980. That's my way of trapping an exact. Also most Lottery agents will gladly play a number on separate tickets if you ask them too. "Play 123 on 5 separate tickets $1 Exact please", for instance. It saves them the trouble of stuffing paper in the machine and takes a lot less time for all.
        Hope this is helpful.

          In Canada we can cash up to $1000.00 at corner store so i keep my bets at that or under that for a win, if i want to play $5 i will play 2 $2 tickets and 1 $1 ticket or what ever, than you can just keep going back to the store until you got all your CASHDisney

                Henny,

                I just wanted to take a moment to clear up the difference between SUM
                and ROOT SUM:

                SUM is arrived at by adding the three Pick 3 digits together for a two
                digit total. (example: 9 + 9 + 8 = 26

                ROOT SUM is arrived at by adding the two digits from the two digit total
                together for a one digit total. (example: 2 + 6 = 8)

                SUM ROOT SUM
                00 = 0
                01 = 1
                02 = 2
                03 = 3
                04 = 4
                05 = 5
                06 = 6
                07 = 7
                08 = 8
                09 = 9
                10 = 1
                11 = 2
                12 = 3
                13 = 4
                14 = 5
                15 = 6
                16 = 7
                17 = 8
                18 = 9
                19 = 1
                20 = 2
                21 = 3
                22 = 4
                23 = 5
                24 = 6
                25 = 7
                26 = 8
                27 = 9

                SUM 13 Combinations = 049 058 067 139 148 157 166 229 238 247 256 337 346 355 445

                ROOT SUM 4 Combinations = 004 013 022 049 058 067 112 139 148 157 166 229 238 247 256 337 346 355 445 499 589 679 688 778

                SUM 04 Combinations = 004 013 022 112
