He played the character of Raymond's father so well!  Very good actor, although it seemed so natural for him!

            Good Luck!

Oh, no!!!  I just signed on and saw this post.  Peter Boyle played "Joe" in a movie of the same title and it was a classic.  He also played Frankenstein in "Young Frankenstein"  and was fabulous.  However, the creepiest role, but one of the best I've seen, was when he was on X-Files and played and insurance salesperson who could see the future.  He was very talented.  I always thought "this is a man I'd like to meet someday."  Maybe I will in a better life and place.

What role did he play in Taxi driver?  I can't recall.

In the 1976 film "Taxi Driver," he was the cabbie-philosopher Wizard, who counseled Robert De Niro's violent Travis Bickle.

His exclamation "Holy Crap" on ELR will be what I will always remember him for.

Hey wasn't he the one that played in "Monster's Ball ,"  w/ Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton.  He was mean on there, but I liked him on "Everybody Loves Raymond."  He was real funny.
