JADELottery's Pick 4 H-Trac System

Reference - JADELottery's Pick 3 H-Trac System, Mapping Pick 3 ABC Numbers into the RGB Color Cube, Example Pick 3 H-Trac Excel Workbook

Well, you may have guessed and you were right. There is an H-Trac System for Pick 4. Before we begin, I highly recommend that anyone coming here for the first time should see the documentation in JADELottery's Pick 3 H-Trac System.

Like the Pick 3 H-Trac, the Pick 4 H-Trac has three parts: Brightness, Contrast and Type. Pick 4 uses the MAX and MIN values of the Pick 4 Number (A B C D) the same way and calculates the Brightness and Contrast Numbers the same way. With Pick 4 though, there is an extra number that is need to divide up the Hue Groups into more manageable and more playable quantity of Combos. This added number is called a Density Number and is used to further segment the Hue Groups in to sections. Also, this Density Number keeps to the rule of Gray Line Centric, meaning the Hue Groups still follow the Gray Line and are Centered around a certain Gray Value. The Gray Line represents the Triples and Quads of a Pick 3 Number Cube and Pick 4 Number Tesseract.

As before, calculate the Brightness and the Contrast Number the same way using the MAX and MIN values of the Pick 4 numbers (A B C D). The Density Number also uses MAX and MIN, however, it will also be necessary to ROUND the Density Number the the nearest integer. Examples: -1.5 is rounded to -2, 3.5 is rounded to 4, and 0.5 is rounded to 1. You can use the ROUND function in Excel to do this operation by setting the second variable to 0, like =ROUND(-1.5, 0).

Pick 4 H-Trac Calculations

1 - Normal Brightness Number

nB = MAX + MIN - 9

2 - Absolute Brightness Number

aB = ABS(nB) = ABS(MAX + MIN - 9)

3 - Contrast Number

C = MAX - MIN

4 - Pick 4 H-Trac Density

A in the ROUND function is the first number in the Pick 4 data (A B C D).

D = ROUND(A - ((MAX + MIN) / 2), 0)

Here's a few examples:

Pick 4MAXMINNormal BrightnessAbsolute BrightnessContrastDensity
5827MAX = 8MIN = 2nB = 8 + 2 - 9 = 1aB = ABS(1) = 1C = 8 - 2 = 6D = ROUND(5 - ((8 + 2)/2), 0) = 0
1204MAX = 4MIN = 0nB = 4 + 0 - 9 = -5aB = ABS(-5) = 5C = 4 - 0 = 4D = ROUND(1 - ((4 + 0)/2), 0) = -3
3148MAX = 8MIN = 1nB = 8 + 1 - 9 = 0aB = ABS(0) = 0C = 8 - 1 = 7D = ROUND(3 - ((8 + 1)/2), 0) = -2
4020MAX = 4MIN = 0nB = 4 + 0 - 9 = -5aB = ABS(-5) = 5C = 4 - 0 = 4D = ROUND(4 - ((4 + 0)/2), 0) = 2
5555MAX = 5MIN = 5nB = 5 + 5 - 9 = 1aB = ABS(1) = 1C = 5 - 5 = 0D = ROUND(5 - ((5 + 5)/2), 0) = 0
7410MAX = 7MIN = 0nB = 7 + 0 - 9 = -2aB = ABS(-2) = 2C = 7 - 0 = 7D = ROUND(7 - ((7 + 0)/2), 0) = 4

The Pick 4 H-Trac Number is written the same way as the Pick 3 H-Trac Number: Brightness-Contrast-Type

The Pick 4 Density Number is added to the right of the Normal and Absolute H-Trac Numbers.

From the examples above, here are the H-Trac Numbers for each Pick 4 number with the Density Number on the right:

Pick 4NormalAbsoluteDensity
582716n16a0
1204-54n54a-3
314807n07a-2
4020-54n54a2
555510n10a0
7410-27n27a4

Notice in the above example, even though 1204 and 4020 have the same Normal and Absolute H-Trac Numbers, their Density Number is different. Remember this when looking for a Hue Group of Combos.

Here are the complete lists of the Normal, Absolute and Density H-Trac Numbers.

Here is the Example Pick 4 H-Trac Excel Workbook.

You'll need this to find the right Hue Group Combos in my next posted reply. Please review it first before my next posted reply.

        Sorry everyone,

        I forgot I'm working with a 1280 x 1024 screen size.

        The first table in this thread is messing things up.

        Just use the slider bar at the bottom to move right.

                There's nothing wrong with brilliance and perfection. I was looking at the stats for Fla Play 4. Trying to figure out the best way to use this.

                    Alright, by now most of you should have had time to review the Excel workbook Example Pick 4 H-Trac, and some of you may have figured out how to use it. So, let's look at the workbook, open it up for reference. At the bottom are the same tabs as the Example Pick 3 H-Trac Workbook; labeled Pick 4 Data and H-Trac, Straight Normal, Boxed Normal, Straight Absolute, and Boxed Absolute. You can look up the Combos using the Excel workbook; the number and size of the tables makes it hard to post for reference online.

                    We'll look at the previously posted H-Trac Example for my state's WI Pick 4, listed below. As stated in the beginning of this topic, there is an extra Number on the right side. A Density Number has been listed to help divide up the Hue Groups into smaller chunks. Without it, the quantity of Combos in a Hue Group would be too large for the average person.

                    We'll look at how to find a Hue Group using the Brightness, Contrast and Density. In the Pick 4 Example, the H-Trac Number 27a occurs a few times on these Dates: 2006-12-04, 2006-12-13, 2006-12-18 and 2006-12-20. There is also a certain Density Number that occurs on those Dates with 27a, they are: -1, 4, -3 and -2. Keep these in mind when looking at the Hue Grouping Tables.

                    We can find the Boxed Absolute Combos for 27a with the different Densities of -1, 4, -3 and -2. Open the Boxed Absolute Hue Grouping Tables by clicking on the Boxed Absolute tab at the bottom of the Example Pick 4 Excel Workbook. Use the slider bar just to the right of the tabs to move right or left to find the different tables. At the top of each table is the Kind of table you're looking at; in this case, the Boxed Hues Grouping. Just under the Kind of table are two labels, Density (in light blue) and Absolute Brightness (in yellow). Under Density, there is a column labeled Contrast (in light purple). These three labels show where in the table (Brightness and Contrast) and what table (Density) to look at. We are looking for H-Trac Number 27a for Densities -1, 4, -3 and -2. For the first Density Number, look for Density -1 in the upper right part of the table, next find 2 under Absolute Brightness, and then finally move down in the 2 Brightness column to the Contrast row of 7. You should have found these Combos:

                    H-Trac 27a, -1
                    3007 3017 3027 3037 3047 3057 3067 3077 5229 5239 5249 5259 5269 5279 5289 5299

                    Here are the other Hue Groups for the Densities of 4, -3 and -2. You should be able to find these the same way.

                    H-Trac Number 27a, 4H-Trac 27a, -3H-Trac 27a, -2

                      Typo again, was very tired when I wrote this...  but you're smart, you probably figured it out.

                          JadeLottery,

                            I'm beginning to understand your program, doesn't necessary mean I will break the bank, but it's very nice, the way this is broken down.

                          I'm predicting for Fla 1/4/07  Density -1 HTAC 18a  only these 4 numbers 3508 3580 4519 4591. Let's see how I do.

                            yep, that's exactly why it's there. you can do whatever you'd like. you can just copy and paste right into the pick 4 data area and extend the sheet by doing a copy and paste of the calculations to extend down for more data than what the example shows.

                              How would I do this for Oregon per drawing or per day?
