Once again a question where age comes in..In my case 1mil would do just fine....The older you get the lease you would need IMO.......

I'm assuming you are asking how much I would need AFTER TAXES for me to be set for life.
In all honesty I don't think I would need any more than $2 million after taxes for me to be set for life. All I want to do is live my life without having to worry too much about my financial condition. So as long as I invest it properly and don't spend mindlessly I think $2 million "should" keep me happy.
But on the other hand I have to consider the fact that I'm relatively young and I hope I have many more years to live. And with the future becoming more uncertain than ever I don't know what the dollar's going to be worth and how much things will cost in, lets say, 30 years. So to be safe, I think $10 million after taxes would be nice. Also, anything more than that would attract too much negative attention.

I think if I had 20 years of $100,000 a year that would be great. Of course more would be fine too.-weshar75

I'd like to think that, too, but 20 years or sooner down the road $100,000 could be just making ends meet.

I am ok, just as I am.. Got things in order.. however, sure would like the thrill of being able to pick my own Lotto 5 numbers.. All 5.. If I could get past the 3/5...

For me, a $15 million lottery would suffice, after taxes, approximately $3-4 million. Quite frankly, I could live off the interest -- and never touching the principal. As one becomes older, a person has a tendency to 'downsize' by getting rid of the clutter and not competing with the neighbors next door.

My ideal amount, after taxes would be $15,685,000
The first $12 million would be divided in 12 groups of stocks that insure approximately 4% to 6% annual pay out (roughly around $600,000 a year).
Approximately $1.5 million will be divided amongst 10 or so various charities.
It will take about $200,000 to clear up and settle all my current debt.
A prior post I noted earlier how I would make use of the remaining funds.

Mrs Coin Toss says she wouldn't put a monetaryfigure on what it would take, but enough to handle emergencies with no strain, to take care of medical and dental things when you need to, and have no worries.
We both think this little story fits here like a glove, with a giggle thrown in at the end. Enjoy.
"Two Wishes"

A man walks up to the bar with an ostrich behind
him, and as he sits the bartender comes over, and
asks for their order. The man says, "I'll have a beer"
and turns to the ostrich. "What's yours?"

"I'll have a beer, too", says the ostrich.

The bartender pours the beer and says "That will be
$3.40 please," and the man reaches into his pocket
and pulls out exact change for payment.

The next day, the man, and the ostrich come again,
and the man says I'll have a beer," and the ostrich
says, "I'll have the same." Once again the an reaches
into his pocket and pays with exact change. This

"The usual?" asks the bartender.

For myself $1 million dollars or more to be well off. I could stop worrying about working for a living and relax more ,which I need to do. And do the things that I've always wanted to do but couldn't afford to.
Pay off bills for starters.

Probably about $5 Million. I actually don't have my mind set on being a millionaire though. I have my mind set on being a billionaire.

me , hey three million would do the job for me, after taxes if thats what im left with then im good, first i would give my mom one million, and me and my son could live quite comfortable with the rest, so that would make me just great, the problem is with money, is the more you have , the more things you wanna purchase, and thats where the problem is , if you keep life simple, you can still be happy ,i mean why buy a fiffty thousand doller rolex when a g-shock can do the same thing, tell time, or buy a $80,000 lambougini when i can buy a 98 skyline for $4,000 and have the same fun ,,,,, aint life grand,,,,,,,,,,,
