Beware of members you don't know who try to get you to join some stupid lottery group.  This member (name is SLIPPY) who I don't know sent me this by instant message (the blue writing is mine):

How can u play that?

Slippy (Nick) says:

Well I play in a group that plays it. It's tax free and it a big lotto. So its a good deal for me

Slippy (Nick) says:

This week its 130 Million USD jackpot, very excited

Littleoldlady says:

that's news to me..

Littleoldlady says:

well I hope u guys cash in.

Slippy (Nick) says:

I hope so too, what do you play?

Littleoldlady says:

P3 mostly and PB

Slippy (Nick) says:

ah cool. Do you play in a group too?

Littleoldlady says:

no..I play with my husband..

Slippy (Nick) says:

have you been hitting lately?

Littleoldlady says:

P3 but not PB

Slippy (Nick) says:

hitting the PB would sure be nice though

Littleoldlady says:

If it is for us, we will get it.

Slippy (Nick) says:

yup, better odds in a grop though. If your interested you should join my group

Littleoldlady says:

no..I am leery of groups. I was in one once and didn't like it.

Slippy (Nick) says:

was it online?

Littleoldlady says:

I don't know..it was a long time ago

Slippy (Nick) says:

the group I am apart is part of a company that is 5 years old. They have been doing it for awhile, its all automated and very simple. They have over 80,000 members, so must mean they doing something right

Littleoldlady says:

no thanks

Slippy (Nick) says:

its ok, its probably not for you anyways

Littleoldlady says:

that probably right.

Slippy (Nick) says:

well I hate to see people lose out because of ignorance... So i'll send you the link anyways incase you ever get interested. /136795nb

Littleoldlady says:

I know I won't so don't send it to me.

Slippy (Nick) says:

not very computer literate... but thats ok, ur brain is old and ur sick. You'll probably die soon anyways.

This person joined LP and is going into people's personal profiles to see how to contact them.  He contacted me through IM and I have since deleted that.

Littleoldlady....you did the right thing.  Your instincts were right on, especially seeing how nasty the SOB got at the end.  Sorry you were subjected to this.

          Good Luck!

I assume you were communicating with Slippy in some offline (non-Lottery Post) method, because I suspended Slippy's membership last week.

It is very good advice though, something I have been saying for years -- never trust ANYONE new who starts talking about a system, method, numbers, tickets, syndicate, pool, group, idea, or anything else -- that involves your money.

I had a couple of PM's in the last week sounded like that sort of thing and I replied that I do OK on my own and suddenly the message was gone from my inbox. I figured Todd caught it or they deleted it. Different name though.

Actually, I did a little more digging and determined that the jerk signed up under a different non-related username, so that's how he got the info.  I suspended his new account (which he created just after I killed the first two "slippy" usernames), so now he cannot see profiles.

I really don't understand how jerks like that get a rise out of this kind of stuff.  He must have very empty life to be able to waste it like that.

After I determine that someone has spammed the membership thru PMs (many times sending dozens of messages), I run a database command that wipes out every message they sent.  That's why the message disappeared.  No, I don't go into private message boxes or anything like that.  I basically hit a button, and they all disappear wherever they are in the system.
