Here's a table of just some states and their scratch game payouts. I'm currently working on getting all of the states.

If your state isn't listed, I should be able to get yours. However Michigan and Indiana both are giving me BS so I'll probably have to keep those blank. Other than that, stay tuned.

I'm a little surprised at North Carolina.

How are you going to win if you don't play?

I'm a little surprised at North Carolina.

NC's lowest-in-the-nation scratch payouts have been a frequent topic on LP.

AFAIK most NY scratches pay 65% regardless of denomination.

Well, so far anyway, I've found that California actually has the lowest payouts on $1 tickets at a measly 49%. But when it comes to all price points overall, NC definately is the worst.

Scratch Indiana from the states giving me BS and add Washington. The Hoosier "Loot"-ery actually steered me to a Indiana state law archive which has all the info I need. So maybe they aren't so bad after all. But Washington just e-mailed me about a whole bunch of rules about obtaining the prize payouts for their state, or even the full prize odds.

I put it in the general discussion because nobody ever goes into the scratch forum, and this some pretty important info. If I ever post an update to this, could you please not move it. It's not the most off-topic thing in Lottery Discussion.

Gee Jimmy, looks like us in PA aren't as bad off as we would like to think in terms of % pay out.

I keep track, and it pretty much agrees with what i buy, and just like slots, the higher demonimations pay higer %.

                  I'll repeat my question here:

As newer games are issued, don't the average odds of winning anything seem to get higher.?

For example, the original $5 Bingo game was about 1 in 2.5, then 1 in 3, now it's one in 4.  Like wise other games, the average $1 game was about 1 in 4.5, average $2 game about 1 in 4.  Now they are both approaching 1 in 5.  Ditto $3 games from 1 in 3 to 1 in 4.

And also I too am not a fan of the new(?)  validation codes in PA  [these existed before, and still do in MD and DEL]  But do agree, that it would discourage those from just rubbing off the edges, and not playing the game.

If I buy scratchers again, I'll try to stick with simple format games.  I guess I can live with all of this.

M and M is supposed to have a hit rate of 1 in 3,75 actually better than most scratch games, even with free ticket winners.  As I said before, i still play.
