ever wonder why you always hear about the jack whitakers of the jackpot world and never anything about the ones who spend wisely.i'd like to see the media focus more on the responsible winners and all the joys they've had in managing their lives and wealth wisely......your thoughts?

The media doesn't hear about people going about their normal daily routines. They hear about the unusual events and things that are newsworthy. If a jackpot winner does something that  results in a police report the media will know about it, but even if it's Jack Whittaker the media doesn't know when they make a good financial decision, quietly donate money to a good cause, or fall in love with somebody who loves them and not their money. Tragedy, comedy and drama are all big sellers, but there just isn't much drama in an ordnary life and the media won't know about the normal stuff unless somebody tells them about it.

When you win a big jackpot and go on to live a happy, successful life, how often are you going to call up the media and invite them over to do a story about you?

Because the media knows what sells, People would rather hear about lottery winners that blow through their fortunes then responsible winners who happen to live normal lives. It's like the car crash that everyone turns around to see when it happens. Just look at Anna Nichole and all the media attention that she is drawing.

The media reports public news and when Jack goes to court or get arrested, it's public news, how lottery winners spend their money legally is not unless they choose to make it so.  Most lottery winners have to expose some of their personal business to the public when they accept their winnings, why would they want to expose it all for the rest of their lives?  People might want to know but they don't have any rights to know.

actually there have been shows on the discovery channel and Oprah about lottery winners whom are loving life and doing good things with their new found wealth.

the main reason you hear bad stuff is dirty laundry sells big time where the media is concerned.
