This may sound a little strange, but does anyone else here associate different digits with particular colors?  I noticed a long time ago that when I think of numbers I see them in different colors.  My favorite Pick 3 number looks something like this:

023

Here is how my mind colorizes the digits:

0 Black
1 White
2 Red
3 Grey
4 Blue
5 Orange
6 Blue
7 Yellow
8 Green
9 Black

I'm not really sure why both the 0 and 9 are black or why the 4 and 6 are both blue...thats just the way a see 'em.  For some reason the association seems to be much stronger with certain digts...the 2, 5, 7, 8, and 9 always seem to be the strongest for me, especially 5.

Does anyone else see colors when thinking of numbers?

In my teenage years, I used to see everything in colors. Especially my pet named white rabbit.

Unfortunately he dyed a month later.

By the way, I know this is semantics, but black and white are technically not colors.

I don't see numbers as colors, but I wrote a programs to analyze past drawings result in which I enter parameters to define hot and cold numbers.  It colors cold numbers blue, hot numbers red, extra hot numbers yellow and the remaining numbers green. Depending the parameters I enter most of the winning numbers are green so tonight for the MegaMillions game I'm only playing green numbers..

There is a condition known as synesthesia:

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia

I envy anyone who has this, it may be a gift.  There was a documentary on this on Science Channel anyway, the good one is the one that is not drug onset but inherited.  It is like crossed up sensory pathways, about 4% of the population has it.

Your condition is called "Grapheme" color synesthesia.  People see letters and or numbers in color.

                      Thanks gsc5, jarasan.

Wasn't there a news article awhile back about a blind girl in Russia who 'sees' things by feel? She feels something and it appears to her as a color.

There was also a story about somoene who sees words as actual musical notes.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                      Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

PBS television has a commercial in which birds landing on a five telephone lines inspires a composer at his piano, their positions on the line are seen as musical notes and he starts to play a tune as they land.  The tune must have been in the key of C because I never did see any sharps or flats on the line.

...and do you watch the show "Numbers" on a Black and White TV? Wink

Seems if the 4% is correct, there should be quite a few here at LP.
