I'd first buy a porsche. Then I would start an aggressive advertising campaign on the best direct sales products on the internet. Probably in the healthcare industry. In the past 15 years, the vitamin, nutritional, and basic health conscience industry has exploded exponentially.

On the other hand, I might just blow it all on expensive guitars, equipment, a studio and write songs hoping atleast one of them would be a one hit wonder.

Help my sister with some cash.

The correct answer- Very slowly and wisely!

Now for the truth though- 1: Buy a house 2: Payoff my debts 3: Give my kids 20 k each 4: Get my jeep fixed 5: Go on a vacation 6: donate 10k to a childrens hospital 7: Setup a college fund for my grandkid

8: Hire pacattack as a comedic writer, the dude is a barrel of laughs ! Serious talent is being missed with some of the one liners I read here.

Give to the Lord, pay off my debts, give to my mother, pay a few bills for a friend or two, take two vacations, buy a doublewide and a piece of land, and save the rest.

This is much simpler than "what would you do with a billion dollars?"

                      (1) Leave this area, buy a cozy home & furniture

                      (2) take care of some medical needs

                      (3) pay off debts

                      (4) help my sister

                      (5) give some money to a favorite charity

                      (6) put the rest away for retirement

So much has to do with where a person lives.  If you don't already have a house, buying one in many places would use up most of the million.  I'm not talking about a luxury home on the beach either.

A million dollars sounds like a lot of money but it's not, if you do happen to win a mil be careful it won't last long especially the way things cost these days and will in the future. better keep your day job.

350K for a few acres and a very modest home

50K to furnish it and probably do a little landscaping (privacy fence/hedge Yes Nod)

                            25K for medical stuff

25K to take a friend to Europe for a month

                            25K for a new car

                            25K to charity

550K to invest (remainder of the million + 50k from selling my current home)

So even if I just put the 550K into a 5% passbook savings, I'll have an extra 27K per year.  I would be extremely happy with that.

First I would divide the money by ten years, that would leave me with a hundred thousand a year for ten years. The rest, at this point would be nine hundred thousand, I would put in CDs bills (are whatever they are called). The interest, I would but in a separate account or CD. Each year I would cash one in. Now if any money was left from the years allowance it would go into the account for the interest, only in an emergency would I dip into the next years allowance. Emergency not my wants. At the end of ten years I would dip into the interest and overflow account. By then I hope my needs would be smaller as I have had ten years to accumulate all my desires.

Now for the good stuff. Pay off all bills. Then I would buy a safe car like a Volvo. Nothing fancy just a car with a lot of airbags. Go on a nice vacation each year. Do some home repairs. Buy some new major appliances, like a, washer and dryer, and a big refrigerator.

I would do the same thing with a larger win, but would allow myself more money each year but with more years tacked on.
