What movies, tv shows, or documentaries about the lottery are out there?  I have seen Lucky Numbers, some of the episodes of Windfall, an older movie where a guy won the jackpot but had to give up the ticket to save his family (I think Leguizamo or Pacino was in it).

Another movie was about two kids that bought lottery tickets through a drunk on the street and they said they would share but one took one ticket and the other took the other ticket and one of them won the jackpot.  So when he told his friend, nah, I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it.  When I find the title, i'll post it.

What about you guys, what have you seen?

"29th Street" was a good one. Made back in the early 90's or maybe late 80's with Danny Aiello. It's supposedly based on the first New York Lottery winner.

The only one I ever saw was a movie about some guy who met this waitress and asked her out, promising he would split the jackpot if he won.

Lo and behold, guess what happens?

I forget the actor and actress.

Good movie....nothing to write home about, but entertaining...

Can't take all of the credit.  Guru101 mentioned the movie first which is why I recalled the name.

I didn't even register that Guru...so sorry. But I didn't know the name of the movie at the time, and that's why I didn't catch it. I just thought that you were making a comment about how winning could happen to you....WOW!

Thanx for the heads up justxploring....

It could happen to you --Movie

Windfall- TV program (lost interest after 3 episodes)

Lottery Diaries-(Documentary//interview) was just on the history channel

Oprah-Just had sudden riches program on Friday (they had a guy who documented a movie          about  giving a homeless person $100,000 in cash and see how he spent it.)

The Millionaire-(used to be an old TV program) Where they would give families a million dollars and watched what would happen.

Lucky Numbers?- With John Travolta I think where they rigged the balls up.

My favorite lottery movie of all time...."The Waking of Ned Devine".  If you haven't seen it, rent it.  Premise is that someone in this Irish town of 48 people has won the lottery and nobody knows who it is.  Until they get innovative and invite everyone in town to dinner to find out who won it...however, there's an extra chicken breast, which means only 47 people showed up.

Missing is Ned Devine....who is found dead after having a massive heart attack sitting by the TV with his lottery ticket in hand.

I won't ruin it for you ....but it is hilarious to say the least.  You will have to see the rest, unless you already have.  :)
