Not sure if you want to hear this .... But you know the saying you have a better chance of being struck by lightning 30 times before your one set of numbers comes up once.  A news story on the CBC says, if you play the same set of numbers every draw, it would take 38,000 years before they came up once.  And for those who change their numbers every draw....oh golly, over 186,000 years before they come up once.

Now I stick to 20 sets of numbers that I play each draw.  Then I have the sets I play in QP's, hunches, and random picks from lisence plates.  I was shocked to try and figure if I would live 38,000 years, let alone 186,000.  The above is based on lotteries that have a one in 21 million chance like Canada's Super 7.   Keep playing your numbers...someone's gotta win...and don't go outdoors when it thunderstorms.  Good Luck.

Wow, Mike!  You seem to win a lot.  Do you play several different games and buy lots of tickets or are you just lucky?

well actually to be honest its a certain recipe for success i follow and this is what i do....

      1-i play 10 to 15 bucks a week,sometimes i skip weeks

2-i ALWAYS play the same numbers

3-the law of averages states that sooner or later those numbers will hit.

4-i choose my own numbers and i never quick pick.

5-i tried quick picks when i first started and never won anything.

6-i have a huge notebook full of data and numbers that i study.

7-i stick to the same states and same numbers until they hit.

8-i've had equal amounts of success in state and online.i perfer online because you can pick more numbers.

9-i always go with my gut feelings on numbers.

10-don't ever skip days even though i do.i've lost two or three wins doing this and its very depressing.

Well, perhaps sometimes we are meant to see a license plate number, or when you get a palindromic total at the check out it's a signal to play it!

Numbers you dream of have to be played - no such thing as coincidence. Of course, maybe you dream of lets say 624, and you play it for the Pick 3, but the trifeacta at the race track that day was 624, but it's still a message delivered via a dream. Unless you're an accountant or something similar and number dreams are work related, or nightmares!

        Scared

This is funny because I had a dream Saturday night that I played a MM ticket in February and lost it.  The ticket turned out to be the jackpot winner and someone else found my ticket and claimed it in California (I live where lost of people from all over the world come lol).  I saw the last 5 numbers as CLEAR AS DAY and as soon as I woke up, I put them in my Treo's phone memos.  I just can't remember what the first number was lol!  Maybe I should play $56 bucks worth,  and cover all numbers..........NOT lol!

Sun Smiley I got my fingers crossed ready to win!!! Sun Smiley

Whoever came up with those numbers doesn't have a clue. Some places are more dangerous than others, but about 300 people are injured by lightning every year in the US. That's pretty close to 1 in 1 million, but let's imagine you're 100 times more likely to be hit so that there's a 1 in 10,000 chance. The chances of being hit 30 times would be 10,000 raised to the 30th power, and that would be a 1 with 120 zeros after it. The odds for MM is roughly 1 in 176 million, but if it was 1 in a billion, that would be 1 with "only" 9 zeros after it. Unless you want to try standing on a tall building while holding a metal rod during thunderstorms, you're almost 40,000 times more likely to win MM  14 times in a row than to be hit by lightning 30 times.

As far as using the same numbers or picking new ones each time, it doesn't make a difference. There's absolutely no difference.  Each time you play, the odds are whatever they are for that game, regardless of what numbers you play. For a game with odds of 1 in 21 million you would expect to win once out of every 21 million tickets. At 1 ticket per drawing and 2 drawings per week it would take almost 202 thousand years to play 21 million tickets.

On the positive side, if you play 20 numbers for each drawing you can expect to win 20 times as often, which is once in only 10,000 years. Just for fun I checked to see how much you could earn by investing the $1000 per year at a modest 4% interest. Would you be surprised to find out that most online finance calculators won't give results for 10,000 years of investment? I did find one, though, and ignoring inflation and the possiility of having to pay taxes, I found out how much money you could accumulate by investing the money instead of buying lottery tickets for 10,000 years. Here it is:

            $5,387,042,079,105,840,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.00

That may seem like a lot, but the same calculator says that by investing only $8 per month and waiting the whole 200,000 years you'll end up with "infinity" which is way more. Putting the power of compounding to work can do amazing things if you've got some patience.

              Hmm i dunno.

If I played a dolllar per drawing in a game with odds of 1 in 21 million, I wouldnt expect to win once out of every 21 million tickets.  My expectations would be around 63.21%.  So theres still almost a 37% chance of never winning at all.

What game are you talking about, Mike?  I use Quick Picks if I play anything but Lotto so I don't cry "I played that just a few days ago!!"  As I've written (too many times) before, I've been playing the same numbers for years, so I'm nervous about switching because of the horror stories I've read.  Even 5/6 (about $5K average) would be a treat to win, although the $10M jackpot would be even nicer.

No lectures from the peanut gallery, please.  I realize what I'm doing sounds silly, but so is using a license plate from a passing car, a register receipt or numbers from a dream.

                  Hey, Justxploring.

Come to think of it, remember a few weeks ago I said I saw a license plate, Minnesota:

PAY 347  (or maybe it was 314)

If you remember, it hit in Minnesota that day!

                  Not so silly.....

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                  Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I vary according to how the numbers are looking, and yes have missed hits. Recently the 194 and 551 just for a couple. Very discouraging it is.

What follows is truth, and I tend to refer to them as "unique" numbers...assigned specifically to your's truly. Here we go.

                      2-23-07

My wife and I were out having dinner at roughly 7-7:30 p.m. While being seated, I decided to head for the restroom. I noticed something lying on the floor of the restaurant, and picked it up. It was a funhouse ticket. The address of the funhouse was 1097. Exactly 7 days later 0197 showed up in the Evening drawing. Of course....I forgot to play it, however it further enhanced what I already knew.

                      2-28-07

I was assigned a unique number in the form of a pin number this evening. The number was 6019. You guessed it, 10 evenings later it came in straight. Nope...missed this also.

                      March 1st 2007

I received two unique numbers this evening as well, 0621 and 0213. March 2nd 2007, the retailer where I normally get my tickets was having machine problems so I inadvertently forgot to play  both. The 0621 came in that evening as 1602. I was mega bummed to say the least, especially after previous history. So I thought I WON'T let that happen again.

                      March 14th

Evening drawing was 1523. Just happens to be the mirror of 1023. I missed, yet again. Decided to play a mirror hunch 2993 of another number. Dropped it on the 16th.

                      March 17th

9239 fell for the mid day. Sigh....

                      March 25th

1620 fell mid day...again. I let it happen yet again.

                      March 26th

                      2610 Mid day....and again.

As I mentioned before, all of this is fact. I know it sounds WAY to good to be true, but nothing grand about missing several grand within weeks.

So those of you who miss, you are not alone. Trust me. Lastly, you had better hang on to the number just a little longer, even if you think it won't show.

Just to add to the above, I too have missed license plate hits. Seems difficut to define what is assigned to me or not. You wouldn't think so from the above, but nonetheless.

I can sympathize with you on the "missed assigned numbers".  I have never hit a 4 digit number straight and one reason is that I don't play many I suppose, but in the last 3 years there have been a few chances which I let slip away.  A couple of years ago I was thinking about going on the Internet in search of info about Rush Limbaugh (will probably step on some toes here by saying this, but I can't stand the guy). Anyway one afternoon after getting home from work, I thought of it and did a quick search just before getting ready to do my exercise program.  I had all ready been to the store to get my evening numbers.  As I looked over some of the biograhphical info on the site, his birth info stuck out and I saw "1952".  My first thought was that I should go to the store and play that number...but all ready having my numbers and in my exercise clothes, I passed on it.  That night the 4 digit numbers was 1952.

Another time I had gone to VA on the weekend to visit my estranged wife.  On Sat. night I would turn on the radio where I was able to pick up a Philly radio station that gave the lottery numbers for DE.  The 3 digit number that night was something like 983.  My wife's address which I only played when I was in VA was a 4 digit "3809".  As I rode back to DE on Sunday, I was thinking about what I would play that night and thought about the 3809.  But I talked myself out of it since part of the number (the 983) had hit in the 3 digit on Sat. night.  That night in DE the 4 digit was 3809 straight as an arrow.

A couple of years ago, I and a friend got our first cell phones.  I began to play my 4 digit part of the phone number.  After a couple of weeks i dropped it, but only a month after getting the phone, the number came out straight.  My friend actually got his phone about a month after me and his 4 digit part of the number also came out straight about 6 weeks after getting the phone.  So I to believe that certain numbers are assigned to us at times, and we have to learn to follow those feelings instead of letting the "stinking" thinking get us.

This is a good poll. I have a bad habit of not sticking with my numbers. Then they hit... I applaud you LottoMike. I've heard you say many times on here that you stick with your numbers and play your favorites as well, and patiently wait for the number to come. I have a hard time doing that!

Wow!  All these stories are scaring me.  It's like the "voices" I ignore and then get into big, big trouble.  I'm not saying I actually hear demons talking to me, but sometimes we hear an inner voice saying "don't do that" or "do that" and we don't listen.

So I guess for now I'm sticking to my numbers.

It's been said that when we pray, we are trying to talk to God, but when you have those "gut hunches" (or hear those inner voices), that is God talking to us!

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
