Anyone care to suggest a system on using the previous numbers?  On a limited budget?

I have been following advice from a book (and posts on this site) -- by selecting 25 to 30 numbers

for each draw ... I have managed to select all five numbers the majority of the time.  I do not have the budget to wheel, so those five number matches - always happen on different lines.  What is maddening -- is several times I have had all five numbers on a single ticket (five lines per ticket).

So without increasing my spending, anyone care to suggest how to nail down a win?

Thanks

KJ

If you're getting all 5 winning numbers on a single ticket, then you're doing as good as can be expected without spending more money. You can try mixing your numbers a little differently but it's now mostly up to luck.

*You might want to run a test and pick more lines, but not actually play them to see what might have happened had you spent more money.

     * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *

If you can, and I know you want to stay on budget, but try and squeeze out an extra 5 #'s and shuffle around those numbers or go up or down by one to get a better chance at hitting. Bottom line is, you need more tickets to have a better chance at winning. I usually play 20 dollars as my max betting per day unless the jackopt is very high or I feel very lucky on a particular day with my number picks.

      Good luck!

When the MegaMillions jackpot was at $390M, I took a chance and I played one of those "what if I had spent more" groups and lucked out.  I played 34 different numbers with 15 different bonus numbers using 65 lines and matched a 4+0 for $150. The number I missed was on the winning ticket twice in two other lines so with a little more luck I could have won $250K.

After that I said to myself, I would be happy to be that lucky regardless of the jackpot size, but I can't convince myself to spend that kind of money when the jackpot is less than $250M even thought I would be happy to win  $150, $250K or a jackpot of $15M any time.

The fact is playing a lottery is gambling and some times a player have to be willing to put up or shut up, "could have" and "should have" just don't count.

I too try to stay around $20 for a drawing.  I usually have four tickets (with five lines per ticket).  The two times I decided to take the numbers off one ticket and "mix and match" -- (and play $30) I ended up with the following results:

First Time -- the ticket I used -- did not have the numbers on it and so failed to match anything.

Second time -- I ended up with two -- three number wins (funny part the same three numbers) -- for a fourteen dollar win.

If I knew for sure, one of the tickets will have all five numbers ... I would go for broke and wheel that ticket.

The past two months (amount of time I being playing this system).  I have had all five numbers except for three draws, which I only had four matches.  To date....winning wise..... I have had one match of four w/o MegaBall, one match of three with Mega Ball, seven match three w/o Mega Ball, and more match two numbers then I care to recall, with and without MegaBall.  Maybe this is the same as everyone else trying a system....I do not know, but is so frustrating to be sooooo close..........

Yes -- you are correct it is gambling and you should "put-up" or "shut-up" as you say.........

It is so tempting just to say....heck -- I am matching these numbers regularly, let's go for broke and wheel

these numbers.  But honestly, I have not the guts to shell out the thousands it would cost to do so.

Call me a wimp, but I would rather try with a small budget and "get lucky" rather than spend thousands and be unlucky.

            Thanks for you suggestions....anyone else?

I don't have the guts either.  Because of commons sense I have a few "could have" and "should have" stories but I don't have any big regrets either.

"anyone care to suggest how to nail down a win?"

Cross your fingers. Getting all 5 numbers half the time is all well and good, but it doesn't mean you're actually very close. If you could always be positive which 30 numbers the 5 winning numbers would come from you'd be playing a 5 of 30 game, so there would still be 142,506 possible combinations. Even with only 25 numbers there are over 50,000 combinations. Aside from the cost, it's wildly impractical to fill out the cards and buy that many tickets.

                    Someone in New York won.

Once again I had all five numbers, this time four on one ticket and three on a different ticket.  No Mega ball.

I did have a three number match on one line, so that is positive.

With guts, I might have been sharing the millions <smirk>

                    Thanks for the suggestions.

try cutting down on the numbers you choose from 25/30 to maybe just 12 of the best numbers you can and then "wheel " them for 40 or 60 lines. If they ...the numbers that are in your choice of 12 numbers  have the 5 that are needed in order to win ...you will be gauranteed to win 1st or 2nd prize.

I personally  use a 40 line wheel and a 60 line wheel and then sometimes I just use both to create a 100 lines ( a dollar for every line). " No pain..no gain!"  It hurts sometimes but when I win...the pain goes away....and I do win from time to time.          I just play the Mega Millions game exclusively.

                                                                      Thumbs Up

When Picking 30 numbers  it isn't hard to pick the 5 winning numbers...the trick is to get the 5 all on one line. Try picking only 12 numbers and wheeling them for maximum effect. That's when you know your really good!  Then,  try pick the mega?power ball.  Good fortune to ya!

Limit your numbers to only one number per draw date

Make sure your numbers don't come from adjacent draws- there are exceptions, but most of the time these two conditions are true.
