I use it once in a while, mainly to search for results and as a quick link to the forums, although I know I can also use the menu at the top.

I use it to go to lottery results and to the blogs, but that is all, for the rest I use the bar on top.
I think that it does take space from the viewing area, but I know that you do need that space for those who pay for the stuff that you put on there, so it is O.K. If you want to put something else in there.

I also think it is great, and use it more than the top bar, easier access to the left of the screen, I feel..

I voted (only one so far!) I like the content but not where it's located. I find a lot of times that I want to do searches, etc. when I'm at the middle or bottom of reading a thread. I've been using the top menus exclusively for that reason, with the floating menu (LOVE that feature BTW Todd!), so the menus follow me around..... Just my $0.02!

I use it and like it. I would use it exclusively if all the features were listed there. I don't like drop-downs. Drop-down menus seem to have a mind of their own at times.

In my opinion it wouldn't be a good idea to eliminate this section for it is most helpful for the new members.
I was a member for several months before I paid close attention to the entire listing for the contents section and the only reason I noticed it then is because it was brought to my attention by another member, now because of their assistance I use it more often,
