Well, I just got done watching the segment on 20/20 with Jack Whitaker. The guy's life is pretty much ruined, which made me think about something. This guy wins $315 Million, a record jackpot, and he immediately is getting hit up for money and starts getting into trouble. Here I am, constantly trying to improve my Pick 6 system and am getting better results with every draw that comes. Now I don't believe someone has a system to win the lottery every single draw, but I do believe a person could use a system that could win the lottery perhaps once every several months or even weeks. So I am going to give you 2 situations that involve 2 different people, and I want you to tell me who you think has the worse of situations.

Person A:  This person is your average lottery player. He doesn't use any type of system for choosing his lottery numbers, nor does he study past lottery numbers. He just goes to a gas station, and buys himself a Quick Pick for a record $350 Million PowerBall jackpot. The odds of winning the PowerBall are 1 in 146 Million.

Person B: This person is not the average lottery player. He regularly plays his state's Pick 6 game that has 1 in 12 Million jackpot odds. He uses a system he made himself for choosing his lottery numbers. After 8 months, this person has won the Pick 6 jackpot 6 times, each worth $5 Million, and he's still going to keep playing! In fact, this person has decided to move next to the state border just so he can play another state's Pick 6 game using this same system. People are going to think something's up!!

So who has the worse of situations? The average lottery player that ends up winning a record $350 Million, or the non average who has is capable of winning the lottery time and time again?

Gonna win.Big Smile

i chose A because people will instantly ask that person for money right away and i doubt the pick 6 winner will get as much media coverage even when they hit it more than once unless they call up the media to brag about their system being so effective then maybe they will do a story to alert the people who want to ask for money.

Person B only exists in stories that start, "Once upon a time".

If the same individual hit a Pick 6 jackpot 6 times in 6 months they'd have to be Starman. Long before Jackpot number 6 the game would no longer be available anyway.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

      Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

That's a hard question to answer. Difficult to think of either being in a worse situation, they've both won jackpots! I don't think it matters how they won it,depending on what they choose to DO with it is what will put them in a better or "worse" situation.

          I Agree!

          What difference does it make?

I also agree with Coin Toss that player B doesn't exist.  But for argument sake, let's say he did.  Ever see the movie "Rainman?"  Now picture the scene at the casino when Dustin Hoffman was counting cards and were told to get out of town.

The question MAY be: if you had a system that guaranteed a win once a month, how much would you sell it for ?

Do you do a 30 minute infomercial on late-night TV and sell it 'For 3 easy payments of $79.95' ?

You folks would be absolutely shocked at how many 10's of millions of dollars of JUNK is actually sold on late-night TV...

I think player A is very realistic and player B comes from La-la land ( a place in  lottery player's minds where they win big jackpots very often and regular.)

Who is worse off?  Player B-he actually lives in La-la land!!Green laugh

If you know your number is going to hit, have patience and then KILL IT!

You never know when you will get another hit.

The clown has had enough chances.

I thought it was hilarious: 6 arrests - no convictions.  One, MAYBE two I could see, but SIX ?

See what $$$ and 'bargaining' can do for you ?

Now, if it was you or me......

                            You missed the point.

That was: the Person B scenario was for real - what if a person did indeed have a system that guaranteed a win every month ?  Well, the lottery would change overnight to rule the system useless, that's for sure.

Person A sounds like JW and Person B sounds like a lot of us. I watched 20/20 of course. JW started drinking because of how people were bothering him for money. Key words are "started" and "drinking". His first mistake was sounding and acting generous and his 2nd was the drinking. His 3rd was trusting his teenage granddaughter and not being more involved. He could have told her "this guy is a druggie, break up with him immediately or no more $2K/week" and taken action against the boyfriend. What happened to him was more of a result of his bad decisions than anything else. Also, side note, the odds for him were really about 1 in 14.6 million because he bought over $100 in QP's. I voted Person B having a strategic advantage but Person A ends up better off IF he/she is careful being they could just quit playing at that point and focus on other things i.e. investing.

Person B has something much more powerful, he or she can win once and have enough $ to enjoy the rest of their life, and then give #s or tickets to friends so they also can be big winners and NOT have to beg B for money. By the time the Lottery got suspicious everyone is rich and paid off bills and bought houses - doubt the Lottery would do any more than try to bar B from playing or claiming prizes, although the most likely they would use that as an excuse to covert to RNG or at least different equipment "to make sure it stays random and stays fair". As far as I know a system that could "win the jackpot 6 times in 8 weeks" is pure fantasy, most likely even the best system ever will win one or two jackpots in a lifetime. As far as other players, they're going to be asking this person not for money but for numbers, and after winning 2 or 3 times he/she could make just as much by selling the system! People always ask ME for numbers even when my prg. is running cold!

PS- few Questions on the JW special: who goes into a strip club just to get a drink "to go"? And what bar were they showing all the people crowded into? And where exactly is that big Pink Pony sign? It looked like I-64 in the background but satellite maps and my own photos from a visit to that area a few years ago can't seem to find it or even its former site. I only found Wal-Mart and signs for the Dog Track. Quite a few details were left out due to time constraints. i.e. his current civil trial. I propose his story could be made into a movie or book deal and the proceeds go to drug rehab if he wants.
