I love Betty White - great comedian. I liked her better as Sue-Anne Nivens in Mary Tyler Moore. But her character that you are referring to is Rose Nyland (spelling?) who came from Minnesota and would talk about her life in Saint Oloff. I really didn't like that character too much, since I don't like the dumb blonde image.
The old lady was Sophia. She would start a lot of sentences with "Picture this - Sicily 1932..." and go onto tell a story about her life in Italy. She was actually the same age as the other women, but wearing makeup. Very funny lady. It was one of the best shows on TV, in my humble opinion.
Hope your birthday was a lot of fun, PreciouzAngel. 35 is a nice age. Honest...While I was typing this post someone called me to take a survey. He asked me if I listen to the radio and I said "Sure, in my car." Then he wanted me to give my age and I hesitate and said "over 50." He just asked "Oh, you are over 55?" So I said "just" and he continued to say..." That's not in any age bracket we are surveying. Have a nice evening, Ma'am."
Have a wonderful year and I hope 36 will be even better!!!
