Kubrick.... Dr. Strangelove and Clockwork Orange - yes.  Eyes Wide shut - no.    I hated that movie.

If you want to see a great gambling movie watch the Cincinatti Kid. (different director)

There was a Twilight Zone episode where an older man bet that a younger man couldn't keep lighting his cigarette lighter.  The prize was a new car, but the penalty for losing was his finger.  Remember that?

And then they don't have games that have shooting with helicopters and ships shooting at  each other on the playstation and xbox..Most games are racing and people shooting, but not helicopter or ship shooting at other ships/helicopters/forts....

Why don't they have a software that can translate automatically all the languages in the world to the desired language...I am not talking the softwares that they try to sell you that claims they can translate from one language to the next yet they miss small details when translating...I am talking a sophisticated software that can translate languages to other languages and pays attention to the smallest tiniest detail to 0.000001 margin degree of error....Why they don't have that software and have it available on the internet or make it come on your computer? because they don't want to unite the world but instead want to keep the world separated...(is another conspiracy theory)....Why doesn't Bill Gates for example does this since he calls himself the world richest man and owner of microsoft? Because he is too busy wanting to mantain his position as the world Richest man...Is not just Bill Gates but the richest people in the world...Why not the third richest guy in the world that's from mexico and who they call "Slim" because all they care about is making more money...

Or why they don't have a supercomputer connected to the internet that can translate all the languages in the world...A supercomputer could certainly pay attention to inflexction of languages and minute details when translating if thought how to...

Why don't they do this? Because there is a conspiracy  theory...

"The Truth is OUt There".......                           from movie "The X-Files"

They're working on that problem. One of the problems is still in it's infant stage, like voice recognition. Once they get over that hurdle, then they can improve on translation.

So far, it's hard for a computer to understand certain phrases that contain similar sounds but their meanings being very different. An example would be the following:

    " Recognize speech"

          OR

    "Wreck a nice beach"

They're working on improving the ability for the computer to distinguish between such phrases, and idioms....

I've oftened wondered why they don't haul out the molds and make brand new versions of favorite old cars like 65 Mustangs and 69 Camaros, instead of the egg shapped crap they give us now.

Guess it's like why McDonalds doesn't encourage employees to cook real steaks on the grill for their own lunch.  You couldn't eat the burgers if you smelled real meat cooking.  All fake or the trick doesn't work.

Of course a lot of the old tec goes into the new tec, why take steps back for a small market when the market ahead is largly based on appearance of having the best and newest to show off.

Maybe some would like to go back to hitching a wagon on the back of the tractor to bring the family to town on the weekend.  Ok, maybe not that far back, but we all find tec levels we're comfortable with and go nuts when we can't replace the product with the same we already understand how to use.

We go to buy my mother a new tv, she wants to know how she's supposed to see the buttons black on black to change the channels.  The salesman says, "You don't use those, you use the remote."  and shows her a remote that's black on black.

Never get old, problem solved.  BobP
