I Agree!    Everyone reacts differently to a windfall and it remains to be seen how this will play out for him and his family.

It is the easiest thing to believe someone will end up tragically like winners in the past, much more difficult to simply wish them them the best, wait and see how they manage their newfound fortune.

We all should be as lucky as Bucky!!!!!!!!  Huge congrats again!!!

I Agree!

 Bingo.

Thanks Konane and welcome back...

If someone decides to be public about their win, there's nothing wrong with that. You're saying that if someone decides to be public about their win, then that shows something negative about their character, but it doesn't. It all depends on the person who won. Not everyone handles money the same way and not everyone has the same level of vulnerability.

You are just as bad as the serial posters on this site.  This site for many is more than just posting for the sake of being read and heard.  For many it is informational and educational.  It is not a character issue with Bunky, you are too damn extreme.  You can jump off the mountain, thats your choice.  People will have commentary about it, although its your business.  You can slap  your wife tonight, and if you did, I hope she sends your behind to the slammer.  But your neighbors will still talk about your behind being put in the cops car.

You can hit the MM tonight and jump up and down and pull your pants down and wag your tail.  Thats your choice, but people will talk.  Get a life Guru101

I'm inclined to agree with Guru on this one.  Bunky is obviously an extrovert and if he wants to tell the whole world about his win, so be it.  He can move, change his telephone number and just say no frequently.

I'm an introvert and as an older woman often alone, I'd prefer to have anonymity if that were an option.  Unfortunely, in my state even if the ticket is claimed by a trust or other legal entity the lottery director can require a press conference and can require that those benefited by the trust appear and that the individuals' names and cities be listed in press releases.

Many people seem to assume that an individual who indicates that he plans to donate to charity is going to be bombarded with requests, but I don't know that such is always the case.  First they have to find you.  If forced to appear at a press conference, I'd probably mention my charitable interests.  Why not?  Mail has never been delivered to the street address here, only to a post office box.  I've had an unpublished telephone number for years, so people can't look it up that way.  I've tried to look myself up on the people search engines on the web and can't find any place that my phone or street address is listed without a person having to pay to get that information.  And I have my doubts how many people would pay or go to the county courthouse to look up records.

If Bunky doesn't already have similar privacy protections in place, he and his family may have to face the problems for a time, but whenever major changes take place, there are adjustments to make.  One must just deal with it.  He seems like a person who could handle it.  I hope the other members of his family can, also.

I'm not the bad guy here, you are. I'm the one who is being logical and rational. You're the one who is making derogatory comments about the jackpot winner, someone you've never met or know, not to mention me. Is that just the type of person you are? Are you the type of person who looks at someone, maybe find out a few things about them, and automatically makes judgements about them regardless of the fact that everyone in this world is different? I think you're shallow.

WOW!  I see how you got the title Guru!  You gave it to yourself.  Listen to you,  you are the logical and rational one.  Everyone give the Guru a round of applause.  He is head and shoulders above the world.
