Just an FYI, the guy who was in the CNN Money article (golds gym manager) that claimed to use a "number system" to win the lottery was paid to say so.

this much was probably obvious

i work as an assistant at a law firm

Welcome, Jemcolz. . .
Something about Brad Duke must have twanged you off to make this your first post. I, too DO NOT AGREE that he was entirely truthful in his press. He claims to be making this money for his extended family. . .if so--why didn't he make them minority partners in the winning ticket--of course. . .then he couldn't control the allocation of the money.
I believe he said that he had been working at wheeling some numbers in the months previous to the big win and that it was a system that he developed (yeah. . .right) and was fine tuning it (for eventual sale, presumably) when it hit for the jackpot.

In the article I read he said he used a "number system" that he designed that not only picked his jackpot winning numbers but picked another line that also won a nice prize for the same drawing. Why would anyone pay him to say that? And who would even care if that's the only time it ever worked for him?

I've never heard of anyone winning a PB or MM jackpot more than once with any system.

The powerball site says he won with numbers he'd been playing for years. Sorry, I still can't post links in these forums, so you'll have to find it yourself.
IIRC he told CBS in an interview right after he won the same thing. It wasn't till some time later he started saying he had used a system.

You can have all the most rudimentary 'systems' in the world - and one day that 'system' may work.
All it takes is luck.
You can also have NO 'system' and win - and THEN find a way to jam those winning numbers into some sort of system you can attribute winning to. How many racers win races, and have decals on the side of their car for a product - but do not use that product ? TONS. Same deal here.
The way I see it, if he won by NOT playing a QP, then that in itself MUST be a system. It may be a 'real' designed 'system', or a person may just pluck numbers off the top of their head, but it IS a 'system' nonetheless, no ? How many times have you played a game, picked your own numbers, and as you fill out the form, you are thinking 'yes' and 'no' to certain numbers or combinations of numbers ? THAT is a 'system', regardless of how complicated it may or may not be.

Easy. It just takes the patience to use it until the lottery happens to draw the numbers that your system "predicted".
