Does anyone remember the last PowerBall drawing for which the old matrix was used?

How many regular, and PB numbers were there?

I believe it was 2/8/05  or around that time frame.

I found this statement on the Colorado lottery site:

When did the Powerball matrix change?
The Powerball matrix changed on August 30, 2005.  The Multi-State Lottery group (MUSL) that oversees Powerball voted to change the field of numbers from 53 to 55 and to increase the starting jackpot amount to $15 million.   This change was adopted by all of the states offering Powerball to its players.

Go to www.usamega.com (or click the USA Mega logo on the left) and click on Powerball Statistics.  The bottom of the page lists EVERY version of Powerball.  You can pull up stats for them all.

If you're interested in more history, you can click the Where to Play under the "POWERBALL" heading and see when each state joined the game -- stretching back to when it was called Lotto America.

Thanks all. I had dug through the "search" a few days ago and found the most recent change (Aug 31, 2005). That stats page is nice. I didn't realize they had changed the game so many times.

Moving the "goal line", in my opinion.

wow, was I off or what?  Sorry about that, operating solely on my memory is not a good idea I guess.

first version of Powerball (November 1, 1997 and prior:
first 5 numbers were 1-45 and the Powerball was 1-45).

second version of Powerball (November 5, 1997 to October 5, 2002:
first 5 numbers were 1-49 and the Powerball was 1-42).

third version of Powerball (October 9, 2002 to August 27, 2005:
first 5 numbers were 1-53 and the Powerball was 1-42).

              current version (Aug 31, 2005 ~ present: 1-55, 1-42)

After that many changes, anyone's memory could be challenged.
