Janet, just my opinion, but if they publish the pre-tests, then they are up front. Do you trust a state that hides the data? If the state publishes the pre-test data you have the ability to use those pre-test draws in your analysis, and I would do that. Florida does pre-tests and doesn't publish the data. They never did pre-test before they changed the lottery contractor. He showed them an easy way to increase the profits. The Fla lottery told me they didn't use the payout as a factor. My response was, what's the purpose of the pre-test, you never did them before? They never answered me back.

I Agree!

I also wrote to the Florida Lottery, but mainly because I've been playing Lotto for a long time.  I got a reply, but no explanation of how they are conducted.  The email said "Dear Nancy, We are sorry you disapprove of the pre-tests we conduct for the Florida Lotto."  (or something very similar)  That was it.   I originally asked if by beginning pre-tests, that meant for years the results weren't fair & accurate.  I remember when NH began the sweepstakes and I doubt if they had all these pre-draws.

To the members who say all states publish them, this is not true.  CARBOB is correct.  Also, I understand why security is important, but what good does a pre-test do before the actual drawing?  In this age of high technology, I am sure that each ball can be weighed & measured to be almost identical.  Even 30 years ago when I started working in the packaging business, we could measure a closure (a cap on a jar like jelly or spaghetti sauce) within 1/100 of a millimeter.  That was before we had cell phones and the internet.  (or even DVD players!)

i wouldn't want to know what the pre-test numbers were. i would feel sick to the stomach if one of the pre-test numbers was my number for the night..

This is EXACTLY why they do Pre-tests...THEY know everyone..or mostly everyone uses the past to find a digit or a pair or an entire combination that is missing to to gain an advantage in playing so they can make some money..so what does the lottery do..THEY PRE-TEST to change up number flow so what was missing will most likely show in a pretest and now it is gone, and you have to wait  longer for that digit missing or that pair that was misssing to come back..

Just remember this is the set for pic 3..000-999..1000 combinations..as sson as your state started its pic 3 the game began..every SINGLE TIME THEY TAKE A COMBINATION OUT..it belongs to that set of 000-999..pretest or otherwise..

The only tru drawing is turn the machine on whatever 3 digits pops up is the winning number for that night..turn the machine off...next night..turn the machine on..what ever 3 digits pops up is the winning number..turn the machine off..etc..etc..etc..but nooooooooooooooo..they are not going to do that because numbers will create their own cycles and patterns and they have to change up number flow so noone can cost them alot of money..I said it once...I will say it again..everyone should file a lawsuit against your state lottery for tampering..its kinda like that street game you see on TV...the guy has 3 cards and is shufflring them around and you have to find the Queen but with a little slide of hand the queen is always gone..hahaha

Heh what if you went to the casino to play Blackjack and the dealer deals you an Ace and a Jack ..you get 21..then the dealer tells you no..you cant have that one because this is a TEST DEAL..its the samething..they are stealing the public blind pretesting..that is why states are making more money than they know what to do with..and states that are bitching about not making any money are liars..they are bitching because they are not making as much as they want to..

Nope Carbob I wouldn't trust a state that hide the data.  I'm hoping to find out how many pre-tests are done with NC and if we can have privy to the draws.

What I don't understand is why do they pre-test after the draw.  That doesn't make any sense.
