I think I mentioned a LP convention before in a thread last year.  Coming dressed in your avatar or usrename or as  your motto.

    Could we come "anonymous"?

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I have not heard a valid (to me) reason YET why winners can not be anonymous.  Do the powers that be think someone from planet "XYZ' played and won ??? I think a winner needs to be COMPENSATED for all the free publicity the games get.  If they are allowed to remain anonymous, then the Lottery owes no compensation.  It just like the automobile dealers that advertise their business on the back of your car----Freeeeeeeeeeee!!!!  You KNOW you bought your car there and so does everyone else, but the dealer gets the compensation, you just advertise for free---if you allow the name on your car.  Yep, y'all got it right, I do not allow free ads, but if I win in a state that says I have to publicize anything, oh well, I am taking my winnings!

Just think - a LP convention, and about 40% of those there dressed like The Riddler from Batman, or Matthew Lasko (the government grants guy with the ???s on his suit)

          What?

Or wearing a name tag that said:

          Ann Nonymous

          Smile

"I have not heard a valid (to me) reason YET why winners can not be anonymous."

Perhaps you've noticed that some people already think that state lotteries are using fraudulent methods to get more than the 50% they're guaranteed by simple probability?  Suppose the lotteries just said, "somebody, but we're not saying who, won. Really. You can take our word for it, even though no actual person is coming forward to say that they won."

My guess is that a lot of people would think that the state was simply claiming there was a  winner and keeping the money for themselves. That's a perfectly valid reason for releasing the name and hometown of winners. Fortunately, if you don't like the rules you're allowed to not play.
