I want to discuss here weird things seen with the lottery drawings...especially things like weird numbers drawn, odd number of winners etc... I do NOT want to talk about torn tickets, or dreams or terminal noises or stuff like that...just plain weird facts that are what we think a bit out of the ordinary...

I'll start with a few:

    One winner<<<>>>Multiple times
Thurs., Jan. 20, 2005   Archie Herring of Seattle just missed winning this week’s huge $130 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot, correctly guessing five of the six numbers drawn but missing the all-important Mega Ball number. Herring, 68, played his five-number combination on 10 separate tickets, each one good for a second prize of $175,000, or a total of $1.75 million.
This week he played his combination 10 times because of the unusually large jackpot. He correctly guessed the numbers 10, 23, 28, 39 and 51 but missed the Mega Ball number 5
“We checked with lottery officials in other states, and nobody has ever had it played that way and hit like that,” said Lee Lee, a spokeswoman for the Washington Lottery.

Thats one way of making a cool few mill!

But what would be the odds picking all 5 whites like that twice in the row!???

Talk about the mental flow of picking 5 correct balls twice?

              Now thats a Hot streak......

dont play any of them because a lot of people play that way...first of it is hard to hit combos like that to begin with (it could happen) but highly likely you will split money with someone else as demostrated above....Why do people play like this?: (1-2-3-4-5 or 10-20-30-40-50 or 2-4-6-8-10 or 7-17-27-37-47 and similar)

I dont know why but the FACTs are that a lot of people do that repeatedly so very likely you will split money...Also why do a lot of people play triples repeatedly on PICK 3 games?..triples only draw 1.5 times a year on average (at best)...so play them all year & hit once you end up with no net profit.(or losses)..I think people just like easy or stand out patterns like those...I dont play them only becasue i dont want to split money with a lot of people...I agree that every combo has the same chance to hit but i want to play more random # since more random happens more often and less chance to split..

There are two ways to look at this.

First, You can keep playing original lines that probably won't hit in your lifetime.

Second, you can play the intervals like the examples mentioned and atleast win something even though you might have to share.

you are right but the second option is not a wise choice because PEOPLE play jackpot games in order to win BIG amounts of money (usually 100,000 and up)...i have hit 4 numbers, 3 number etc..multiple times and won at least something...so what..$400 bucks is nice but people are after big sums...we want life changig amounts...there is pick 3 games with much better odds for winning $100 bucks...

all lines are original lines and i understand what you mean but if i were to do a poll i bet you that the majority here (90%??) will say don't play obvious combos like those because of chance you will split with many others...meaning the first option is the preferred one for striking it RICH.

The second option has been demonstrated by the above example in PA, other examples in CA as well...

I sincerely hope you and everyone here on the LP who is hoping to hit the big one gets to have that dream come true. Really I do.

I'm a realist and think that the odds are rediculously high. For every person who wins a JP, multitudes lose. That's just me. I know a negative attitude is bad for karma so I'll leave it at that.

Personally, I'm ahead of the game playing the p-3, and loving it. I do occasionally play for the big one, but I know that the odds are the reality. They dictate what is practical and wishfull thinking.

Afterall, this is why we're here to begin with, but in my opinion relying on a hit to relieve any financial problems is not practical.

A dollar and a dream is what it boils down to, with a lot of luck.

THE above post clearly shows a wise strategy for playing lottery...when the odds are high playing $1-$5 is prefeerred otherwise you will lose money...

But it's sure is fun trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few years ago, billionaire Warren Buffett advised  "Investors should remember that excitement and expenses are their enemies. And if they insist on trying to time their participation in equities, they should try to be fearful when others are greedy and greedy only when others are fearful."

Machines can pick some strange numbers for New York lottery players, but this story is among the strangest we've seen.

Wade Corbett. "I purchased a $2 Lotto Quick Pick for the Sept. 29 drawing. The next day, I bought a second one for the same drawing. After the Lotto drawing, I checked my tickets. To my big surprise, on both of my tickets all four rows of numbers were the same. I have been playing Lotto since it began, and I have never seen anything like that."

Wade, the little random number program that runs in the agent's terminal isn't really a random number program. It's a number-generating program that takes the same path through the numbers every time it's turned on.

The lottery ought to have offered you a refund or credit on the second ticket, since these duplicate numbers did nothing to increase your chances of winning.

Nothing to increase the chances of winning, but doubling the amount he would have won should those numbers had hit. You pays your money, you takes your chances. But you're correct about the number-generation program.
