This is for a single drawing only, and scratchers don't count. All varieties of normal lotto games count. Only the money out of your pocket counts. If you use a pool for an example, you can only count your contribution to a pool.

Personally I've only throw about 30 bucks at one, but that was just because it was my birthday. I've only played for a few months though, so I'm sure it will change.

Please don't get into an argument about whether this actually increases your chances of winning. Big Smile

Just want to hear about what some of you are willing to spend for a more than average attempt, perhaps for a larger jackpot

Two times I spent $100 to hit the Superlotto and Mega Millions Jackpot.

There times I traveled to Oregon to purchase Powerballs tickets. Each time the trip cost $230 for gas food, sometimes stayed in hotel. And Powerballs tickets cost me about $50.

I have not been to Oregon for almost 10 months.

But that would also be with parents and significant other sharing the cost (between $19 and $43).  And only on the MM.

This poll may benefit some of us to know how much others are willing to spend for a single attempt, so we feel more comfortable making decisions about it.

Don't worry JustFrozen some people have to be negative no matter what.

Me, the most I spent at one time I think was $15-$20 on Powerball, but that was really a one time thing. I don't do that very often.

                  When the jackpot is 100 million+ I'll throw down 20 to 30 dollars per-draw! 200 million 40 - 50 dollars per-draw. 300 million 60 - 75 dollars per-draw.

Keep dreaming the impossible dream, it just may come true! Thumbs Up

This poll may benefit some of us to know how much others are willing to spend for a single attempt, so we feel more comfortable making decisions about it.

Looking at the raffle sales statistics, it looks like millions of people wagered $20 on one number and because the tickets were sold over time, some people bought more $20 tickets. Maybe it was easier for me to justify buying a $20 New Year's raffle ticket because I cashed $30 worth of Christmas gift scratch-offs, but I don't see how knowing other people waged between $40 and $100 would make me feel more comfortable making that bet.

The Powerball and Mega Millions statistics certainly proves that ticket sales are related to the size of the jackpot. You might think someone making a one time bet of $100 might crazy, but if that is the only bet they made in a year, it's almost the same as making a $10 bet twice a week on the same game. I suppose knowing how much other people wager could be a factor, but not much of factor when betting $176 on Mega Millions only gets you 0.0001% of the total possible combinations.

maybe it wasn't a legitimate vote. could be the wiseguy who thought the poll was lame.

i would think that if someone seriously spent over a grand that they would have something to say about it

I'll be honest about it - I voted $400 - I have once spent $400 chasing a jackpot on 1 draw of lottosouth or valottery or megamillions - one of those... Now, my tops is $200, if and only if the amount gets right & of course - if I have money... lol - Wheeling Those Numbers, Pogo

2 dollars on Wednesday and Saturday. I play the State and Powerball, but really feel that if I'm going to win, I'll do it on a buck.

I know scratchers don't count on this poll, but I do tend to buy the 10 to 20 dollar scratchers from time to time.

I spent over $100 the last time the Mega Millions made it over $300 million.  I don't remember winning a significant amount back.
