I know the odds of it happening are generally high (especially for jackpot games) but has anyone here had it happen?

You can't predict random.

Well, I was just thinking about it for the last day and a half after buying three MM picks, two I chose the numbers myself and the third was an easy pick that picked the same Megaball I had for my second group of numbers. I've had happen several times and years ago I had an easy pick that had three numbers that matched what I had picked in a previous row on the same ticket. I know the odds of one number being the same is nothing more than one out of how many numbers are selectable, two even, but beyond that it was just odd and slightly amusing though I didn't win anything.

According to most lotteries websites, 70-75% of their winning tickets are quick picks so when ever a ticket has all the winning numbers there's a 70-75% chance it's a QP.

There was a post here at lottery post just recently about same numbers on quick pick.

It was someone from North Carolina who purchased their picked numbers and bought a set of quick picks for someone else.

The quick pick had the exact same line of numbers on it.

The post is around here somewhere.

Yes, I have had it to happen with pick 3 twice in one week, many, many moons ago, luck was so good that week, I thought maybe it was an omen that I was about to bite the big one, or headed for the great man in the sky.... so yes it does happen, but I think it's all about luck, it's never happened again and as I said before it's been years ago...

Remember.. It's the GOVERNMENT who runs the lottery.

I barely trust the integrity of the Pick 3 games let alone have them give me computerized generated QUICK PICKS!

                        Think about...

They have a super computer that can calculate odds of certain combinations based on hsitory and such.

They will give the worse numbers possible!

They don't even need a super computer these days, I'm sure they know every single combination that is played before each drawing since every lottery terminal is networked to a main hub for each state and probably to where the drawing is held, just a decent computer and software to keep track of the numbers and find combinations that aren't played, which probably is not too hard unless there's 175,711,536 tickets sold with no duplicates and then they'd have no choice but to pay out but since they can't go too long without potential suspicion, they let someone win. That's pretty much all that's needed, the slightly harder part is the rigging of how the balls come out, but that still wouldn't be all that complex. The real problem is that people would talk and it's not something that would be kept secret for too long1.

Anyway, bought ten easy picks but I chose three of the Mega Balls, one MB number showed up again as a MB number and another MB I chose came up in the same row for the white balls, the third number showed up THREE other times though not as Megaballs but in three other picks. All in all I have. Twelve numbers that showed up twice, three numbers that came up three times and one number that is used four times. So out of ten plays, fifty numbers, 37 are shared. I'm thinking about buying another ticket or two and playing some of the other 13 together that only showed up once. Red Devil

                          EDIT: Found another pair.

Argh, found two pairs that I missed and noticed I said fifty instead of fifty-five but the time limit for editing ran out. So make that fourteen pairs, 41 duplicate numbers, leaving only 14 that weren't played more than once.

And I clearly can't do math at this time because that was suposed to be SIXTY numbers total. Bang Head Plus looking through what I typed and comparing with the numbers again, the number I said was used four times was used three times, so that's 40 numbers (14 twice, four three times) that were used more than once and 20 that weren't..... Holy crap, I've lost the ability to count and do this propertly. I'll blame it on a lack of sleep, yeah that's it...
