If I were Gates, I would have used 50% for charity (not simply giving away. I'd use the money for research and development for making world better) and 50% for...

...setting up my own film production company. No, not a studio. But a production company. (There's a difference.)

This is an amusing question IMHO.   After all, it's his money.  He is not obligated to do anything with it.  If he spent it all on Nut Fudgie Bars that is his business.  Nowhere does it say that anyone that earns something is required to share it.   That is their personal choice.  Most of the time people that share what they have made are looking to "feel good" about themselves.   I think that's because they feel guilty that they have earned it, and don't feel they deserve it. But they do deserve it, and shouldn't feel guilty about it.

It's seems to be a trend on LP that people want to discuss how they will spend huge amounts of money they never earned or won so I'm not really surprised it evolved into how people like Bill Gates should spend their money.

If we could see that type of trend in lottery numbers, they could be discussing how we should spend our winnings.

He has just retired and will now give away billion of dollars, but what would be the best projects for him to donate his money to?

Have any here tried to get money from the Bill Gates foundation?

Trust me he is not the Giver he wants people to believe he is.

We tried to get help from him for an Orphan disease, a very worthy cause, because a disease classified as Orphan does not render any medical research. Hundreds die of the disease and do you think he cares? Yet he bragged that his foundation would be to help the unique. Don’t even get me started on Bill Gates! His organization is just like the rest, don’t let him fool you into thinking he is a big giver!

He should give some of his money to city of Sterling Heights, Michigan. So they can fix the road. If you been to Sterling Heights. You know the road are bad.

It would be nice if he would donate some to me and other single parent

mothers who have struggled to raise their children alone to start our

own businesses and temporary tutors to assist us to operate them

successfully so we could hire some of those people who are getting laid

off from their jobs because of the economy.  I have lots of ideas,  It could

boost the economy and perhaps, change the lives of less fortunate

children being raised by struggling single parent mothers!  With the

right people, he could, perhaps, change the future of entire cities.

You are so right.  It is his money, he worked hard for it and earned

it and no one should be mad at him about what belongs to him.

If he wants to just burn it, it's his.  But I still wish he would give

me and other responsible single parents some to operate their

own businesses and teach others to do the same.
