  When playing Powerball or Megamillions, I've noticed many people
  who have played say that they just missed hitting several of their
  selections by just one number.  Has this ever happened to you?

  It has happened to me several times.  I was just curious if anyone
  here on the Lottery Post website has ever tried to explain this
  phenomenon?  It appears that if you can explain why this occurs,
  you may be on your way to one of the keys of unlocking one of the
  mysteries of the Lottery Lockbox - (if you will). 

  Any thoughts on this subject?

  "Missed it by one number" means nothing. When it comes to the lottery, you get what you get.

  I've only come that close once years ago in the Ohio Super Lotto, a 6/49+1 game. I won $1500 instead $17M if my memory is right.  I had just retired and was developing my system so I was sure it would happen again.  That was seven years ago and it hasn't happen since even though I think my system has improved.  I'm beginning to think it was due more to luck than my system.

  A few years ago my sister had 4 of 5 plus the megaball on the mega millions....missed it by one stinking number.  Sad part is, she don't even use systems or strategies or even really follow the game much. Was I a bit jelous??? Oh yea! lol

  On Mega Millions or Powerball? Nope. Haven't got that close yet. On other games yeah.

  I have done it often.  It is very frustrating knowing that I was only one number off of winning thousands sometimes, and millions other.  For instance, one time, my numbers were all exactly one number off from the draw.  Every number.  Another time, I did win money, but three of the other numbers were exactly one number off.  (Actually, that one has happened quite a bit.)  And yet another time, I picked all six numbers correctly.... I just played them on the wrong jackpot game...should have played those numbers on mega millions rather than powerball.  And there was one time when I got 4 numbers and the other two, well, were "on the right path".  But the ones that bother me the most are the ones, I play all the time and they only come out when I don't play at all.  Or I just didn't play that particular line that particular night., but have played for every draw for years.  Every number will come out just as I have played them.  {I know people don't believe me when I say that, but one of these days I will scan some of those tickets (when I get a scanner or a camera that is working)  and show everyone here that it has happened., if it happens again.}  Frustrating.  And yet, another time I was "chasing it hard" when I got 3 numbers consecutively time and again on the same ticket, but failed to match the other three by a lousy number or two.

  My only explanation for all of this is:  It will happen for me when it is time for me to win.

  Never been that close on a big jackpot game, but tonight I played 2944 (straight/box) in TX pick 4 and a 1944 dropped.  One stinking digit away from $2700.   Also had a quick pick for the same draw 9434 (straight/box)!
