We all have a mental list of what we need, but what would be FIRST?

A drink to calm me down!  Smiley  LOL

I should have checked house.   Prices are still dropping quite a bit here, but a house would be my next big purchase.

I think I would probably go out and pay to have a nice, expensive dinner to celebrate with my family. However, my first major purchase would probably be a car.

I would have to say a car - or at least three. All to replace aging and/or gas hogs for myself and my two college age kids.

After that is remodel the house, which was not included - only remodel kitchens and baths. Those are fine - I need to replace carpeting and finish the basement.  Then I'll go on vacation while the contractors remodel.   When I get back, I'll buy new furniture.  Yes Nod

A house of course my good friend. It would be newly-built by my own specifications, right down to the electrical outlets and window tint. And it would be on at least five acres.

First thing I would buy is a financial adviser, and lawyer/tax attorney. Then a house, big time. Then 1 or 2 vehicles. One car and one Ranger, or similar small truck for hauling the new 50 inch plasma TV I would be going to pick up. Then buy a nice diversified investment portfolio. Then start on the toys for in the house.

My legal and financial advisors. Then I will go on to buy at least a couple of income properties. I will certainly not buy a house soon. I will build up the money stash from the incomes streaming from my income properties. Then I will buy a house for me.

My wife and I have had this discussion.... I dream of buying a private island somewhere in the Carribean, she wants a log home in Colorado.

Really, I think I just want financial peace of mind, not a lot of "stuff". Maybe that would change if I won a huge jackpot, but not a day goes by that I wish I could quit work and just have fun for the rest of my life and be out of debt, get the kids thru college, etc. So, I voted vacation. A BIG vacation from selling furniture. LOL.

If I were required by the state to appear for a news conference, the first thing I'd do AFTER the conference would be to get a facelift and other cosmetic surgery.  Then no one would recognize me from the picture they'd have posted of me on the state lottery website.  With a fairly common name like mine plus cosmetic surgery, all I'd need do would be to move to a larger city and I should be able to easily disappear from the public eye.

I just read on my homepage about lighthouses being sold .

Maybe I would buy one of those on the east coast somewhere. Preferably New England area.

I was looking at before and after photos of makeovers they do on that morning show. They do quite an awesome job on the makeovers.

Smart thinking!  However, if you currently are enrolled in a health plan through your company, as long as you continue to pay for it, you are covered by COBRA.  It's often expensive, but it will make getting other insurance a little easier.  You never want to have a gap in coverage when applying for new insurance.
