That was certainly an interesting combination of numbers...

That was certainly an interesting combination of numbers...

I think it was not necessarily interesting since there are over 175M combos.  It is interesting though that a set of numbers to some is more interesting than any other set, so I am curious as to what a uninteresting set of numbers looks like.

The balls fell in this order 42-12-13-41-15  and of course 37.

I know the matrix is changing for powerball, but why add some many to the white balls and take away from the red powerballs? Why not just add the same amount to both? would that make the odds of winning harder to win... I thought that 42 might be someones favorite powerball number and now that person would lose it... I would have just extended the white balls to 57 and then the red powerball to 44 or 45... would the odds still be close if powerball did this rather than 1 - 59 ( white balls ) and 1 - 39 ( red balls )

What's odd is that there were two sets of consecutive numbers in a single drawing. To my knowledge, that is pretty rare. I am talking about 12-13 and 41-42.  First-Second slot wasn't due according to my calculations but 4-5 slot was.

I still believe the fourth slot is very overdue to repeat in the next drawing.

In the states where MegaMillions and PowerBall are played, there are local games with several million dollars jackpots with better odds of winning but the overall odds of winning anything in those game are worst.  For most players winning something is better than winning nothing and the multi-state game take advantage of that.  Although PowerBall wanted to make it harder to win a jackpot, they wanted odds of winning something to remain the same or better, thus they reduced the number of bonus balls.
