Hi CARBOB,

Yes, it has hit more than 24 times since the beginning of the game. It has hit 24 times during my monitoring period of Mega Millions, which is since July 08 till now. If we go back since the beginning it's has definately has hit more.

What I mean by "Normal rhythm" in lottery is from seeing the most jackpot hits occur within the range of guidelines from the extractions of the results. The excel sheets I have help monitor it.

This is a simple problem in combinatorics.

1) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 2 numbers from B, 2 numbers from C?

Ans:    14*13*14*13 = 33,124

2) How many combinations are there when arrange:

2 numbers from A, 1 number from B, 2 numbers from C?

Ans: 14*13*14*14*13 = 463,736

3) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 2 numbers from B, 1 number from C, and 1 number from D?

Ans: 14*14*13*14*14 = 499,408

4) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 1 number from B, 2 numbers from C, 1 number from D?

Ans: 14*14*14*13*14 = 499,408

5) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 1 number from B, 1 numbers from C, 2 numbers from D?

Ans: 14*14*14*14*13 = 499,408

Ans:    7*13*7*13 = 8,281

) How many combinations are there when arrange:

2 numbers from A, 1 number from B, 2 numbers from C?

Ans: 7*13*14*7*13 = 115,934

3) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 2 numbers from B, 1 number from C, and 1 number from D?

Ans: 14*7*13*14*14 = 35,672

4) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 1 number from B, 2 numbers from C, 1 number from D?

Ans: 14*14*7*13*14 = 35,672

5) How many combinations are there when arrange:

1 number from A, 1 number from B, 1 numbers from C, 2 numbers from D?
