There was someone on here who kept posting updated charts of some kind of ABCD combinations for the mega millions (i.e. A consists of 1-14, B consists of 15-28, C consists of 29-42, D consists of 43-56). I can't find the person or the thread it was in, i remember it was huge thread too. However, i was wondering if anyone had an already created list of all the possible A-B-C combos only which has all the numbers that fall into these categories:

1A 1B 3C

1A 2B 2C

1A 3B 1C

2A 2B 1C

2A 1B 2C

3A 1B 1C

I know this probably sounds insane or whatever, but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Well, there's no shortage of insanity around here. LOL

To your main point, such lists could be generated but probably not posted in a usable manner.

    Your first group "1A 1B 3C" alone would have 14c1 * 14c1 * 14c3 combos. That's 14 * 14 * 364, or 71,344 combos.

That's a lot of screen lines. Eek

Several members have done something similiar.  Early in my thread "Developing a winning MegaMillions system" I came up with this:

THERE WERE 46 DIFFERENT STRINGS IN THE 399 DRAWINGS

      A = 1-14   B = 15-28   C = 29-42   D = 43-56

         1. AABCD = 32          32
         2. ABBCD = 27          59
         3. ABCDD = 27          86
         4. ABCCD = 19          105
         5. BCCDD = 16          121
         6. BBCDD = 15          136
         7. AABCC = 14          150
         8. AABDD = 14          164
         9. ABDDD = 14          178
        10. AAABC = 13          191
        11. AACDD = 12          203
        12. ACCDD = 12          215
        13. BBCCD = 12          227

oops im sorry I actually meant the ABC combos WITHOUT the mega/sixth number. Only combos with the 5 regular numbers, not the extra sixth/mega one. No D group, just ABC. Is there anyone on here that can generate it? Because I'm unable to find a free number generator that can do that.

Last night's winning numbers  05 24 37 47 52 +06 is ABCDD or 1A 1B 1C 2D.  All the letters in my chart just represent the 5 core numbers.  If you have the last 400 MM combinations in a text file then you can replace the numbers with letters using a text editor in a program like NotePad which would make this:

              02/06/09 - 02 12 18 28 31 +03
              02/10/09 - 18 29 38 43 47 +07
              02/13/09 - 25 36 37 40 51 +20
              02/17/09 - 01 09 23 27 33 +24
              02/20/09 - 21 28 41 45 55 +24
              02/24/09 - 01 27 28 35 40 +06
              02/27/09 - 24 37 44 50 56 +35
              03/03/09 - 26 32 35 43 52 +10
              03/06/09 - 11 18 37 46 55 +45
              03/10/09 - 02 27 31 39 40 +23
              03/13/09 - 10 12 26 46 50 +23
              03/17/09 - 09 15 24 28 31 +17
              03/20/09 - 15 16 20 39 40 +26
              03/24/09 - 04 25 34 43 44 +45
              03/27/09 - 10 15 24 38 50 +19
              03/31/09 - 14 39 47 48 53 +29
              04/03/09 - 16 22 38 39 48 +42
              04/07/09 - 02 04 13 17 36 +15
              04/10/09 - 18 25 36 42 51 +22

              04/21/09 - 05 24 37 47 52 +06

The good news Cheers is that someone may be able to code it, depending on which programming language you use.

The bad news Sad Cheers is that the 71,344 takes into account only using the first 42 numbers and not incluing the bonus ball. That is only for the first group.

              A    B    C    A(n)    B(n)    C(n)  Totals

                        1            2            2          14          91          91        115,934

What are A, B, C, A(n), B(n), C(n)? How did you arrive with totals. Thanks.

The A, B, & C are the labels steve33825 was using to identify the 3 groups he was pulling numbers from.

The numbers in those columns are how many out of 14 are being used at one time; each group has 14 numbers

                  The A(n), B(n), & C(n) represent the number of ways to take 1, 2, or 3 objects from 14.

                  14 choose 1 = 14. 14 choose 2 = 91. 14 choose 3 = 364

Those numbers are then multiplied to get the totals (last column)

He has six different arrangements he wants to try, so there are six rows and an overall total.

So is there anyone here who can generate the combinations? Once again, I'm not looking for the bonus numbers, i'm only looking for:

                    A group (1-14)

                    B group (15-28)

                    C group (29-42)

Only the possible combinations involving those groups of numbers, no bonus/mega ball numbers.

No reason it can't be done, except the files would be rather large. In what format would you prefer the listings? Do you want line numbers? Lexographic numbers? PM me with needs/preferences/requirements.

I'm on the road right now so don't expect any response until Thursday or Friday of next week.
