Well, I do try to stay out of these things, but...
Just to touch on a point made a couple of pages ago, I try to keep on top of things, but in reality I can't read every post on the forums. It would be a little too much for one person to handle.
I rely on reports from people to let me know when someone steps over the line. To report something to me, simply click the small "Report Abuse" link directly on the abusive post. It gives you the opportunity to write a private comment to me, and it sends me the link to the post automatically.
Moreover, the Report Abuse page/link is 100% confidential. Nobody knows that you clicked it, and nobody even knows the post was reported at all. It's between you and me.
I try to be fair, and I won't always agree with you. But I do promise to investigate any post that gets reported, and I am never upset or bothered by someone reporting a post. Even if it's something that turns out to be OK, I would rather that you be on the side of caution and let me know about the post if it bothers you.
I have a few thoughts to share, based on what I've seen, in no particular order:
- Don't ever call someone a name on this forum, no matter what, and don't post negative things about another person. If you don't like what someone does or says, the only valid actions are to ignore the post or to report it to me. Starting a flame war is not an option. If you are the first to call someone a name, it is YOU who has done the wrong thing, not the other person. Always debate IDEAS, not PEOPLE.
- Since the state threads at Lottery Post are often used to discuss numbers for the upcoming drawing, posting late numbers is naturally upsetting to many people, and is not something I think should be done. If you have numbers to post late, either don't post them, or do it in your own thread, not in the official state thread. If on the other hand you see numbers posted late, you all can see what happens when you start posting back and forth about it -- the issue does not go away, and it creates anger and frustration. So don't do it! Use point #1 and report the post containing the late numbers to me, and let me take care of it. Trust me, if I have to keep going into a thread and dealing with late numbers, that's not going to last very long. But if you all want to go on debating it amongst yourselves, I'll let you.
- I have another thought about posting numbers, and it's very different than my last point, which is why I'm torn on this issue. If you all do not utilize the predictions board to enforce a strict cutoff time, then you don't have as much of a cause to complain. The #1 best place to enforce numbers posted by the draw time is to post them on the predictions board. If enough of you did that on a regular basis, then you could use some good old peer pressure to make sure predictions are always posted first on the predictions board, and the discussed on the forums. That's the way it's all supposed to work. The forums are there to discuss the numbers that were posted on the predicitons board.
- If someone is really getting to you, don't forget that if you're a Platinum member you have the ability to hide the forum posts of people whose posts you don't care to read. You know the saying "out of sight, out of mind"? It really is true. Try it out and see if it helps. Just click on the person's name and select "Add to block list". Then you can adjust the various things you want to block. I'm not saying to block out half the members, but in extreme cases it can bring peace back into your life. :)
