Let's say you won a huge jackpot and moved somewhere were no one knew you. What story would you tell to people if they asked how you about your income? Would you tell them you won the lottery or come up with something else.

I think I would just tell people I am living off a trust fund my grand parents left me.

I would tell people I am running an internet porn empire. LOL

Which will explain all the glamour girls in my swimming pool all the time.

Easy, you start your own company and that explains where the money comes from.  You don't have to discuss how much you make, but it also shows that you are gainfully employed.

Why would you feel you should tell people you don't know anything about your personal wealth simply because they asked?  If they didn't already know that it was none of their business then I would tell them it was none of the business.

You tell them - "If I excuse you for asking will you excuse me for not answering."

Yeah, I think Miss Manners would also think it's a bit rude for anyone to ask where ones money comes from. But, I like emily's answer. Maybe, that person would get the hint and back off from the question.

I am on welfare and section 8. I get my government check on the 1st and the 15th every month. I also get a disability check for an injury I got on my job.

Then I'll sit back and watch them make fools of themselves when they call themselves reporting me to the government for fraud.

This person, not unlike the gambler, or the alcoholic, has little or no control over the lies he or she tells. To the compulsive liar, lies come out of the mouth as easily as truths, usually with little or no forethought to why or what the consequences will be.

Making up a story as to where your income comes from when people ask and its none of their business makes one a compulsive liar?

Me, I certainly would come up with a simple and plausible answer that would NOT include a mention of the lottery and it would be the same story every time and would at least retain some sort of truth to it either way, such as living off investments if done since the issue of where the income came from for you to do so in the first place shouldn't really come up. Telling people it's none of their business sounds nice and all but does nothing to quell suspicion, just raises them, especially with really nosy people.

Since im a doctor, i dont really have a excuse to tell because i would still work even if i win the lotto. And since my profession can't justify the amount of wealth, I guess I have to go with the inheritance story.

As a doctor, I make enough to live comfortably,  but I will never get past the upper-middle class tax bracket.

Anyhow, I hope I would get to tell this lie soon... it's the only lie that im looking forward to tell others.
