The lottery game Mega Millions has substantial odds, 1 in175,711,536! There are many ways to eliminate numbers to better theodds. This is one of my method, using the previous 30 Sums. Here’s howit works…

When looking back at the Mega Millions results to the last 30 draws there are some interesting findings.

1    17-30-39-52-53        191
2    12-25-37-39-45        158
3    10-11-35-37-50        143
4    03-04-07-16-56        86
5    08-22-27-49-50        156
6    27-43-45-49-54        218
7    08-21-29-34-37        129
8    07-11-27-40-46        131
9    05-18-23-31-38        115
10    04-15-17-29-38        103
11    07-13-37-46-51        154
12    27-45-48-54-56        230
13    13-17-25-45-55        155
14    10-13-18-33-51        125
15    17-31-34-45-51        178
16    03-14-21-24-51        113
17    09-33-51-53-56        202
18    15-24-51-53-55        198
19    02-21-25-45-50        143
20    07-27-42-49-52        177
21    26-29-33-39-46        173
22    18-27-31-36-52        164
23    29-30-32-35-41        167
24    16-27-48-49-54        194
25    04-10-18-28-50        110
26    02-04-06-21-44        77
27    02-09-28-51-53        143
28    01-17-31-37-54        140
29    03-12-19-22-40        96
30    09-38-44-48-49        188

There are 0.03% of a repeat of a sum within 30 draws. That means itis safe to eliminate them which results in many combinations beingthrown out. Mixing this with other filtering systems will bring youcloser to the grand prize!

With this example, let’s see how many combination we are eliminating using the previous 30 sums.

(high to low)

SUM – Total Combination within the sum.

230 – 1747
218 – 4318
202 – 10870
198 – 13094
194 – 15522
191 – 17458
188 – 19480
178 – 26554
177 – 27266
173 – 30079
167 – 34044
164 – 35838
158 – 38888
156 – 39719
155 – 40095
154 – 40446
143 – 42416
143 - x
143 - x
140 – 42325
131 – 40446
129 – 39719
125 – 37960
115 – 32115
113 – 30768
110 – 28683
103 – 23692
96 – 18797
86 – 12516
77 – 7962
-
Total combination that will not show up for the next draw 752,817!

Eliminating that many combination from thetotal does not seem as much, however every bit of combinationeliminated will help you move closer, and closer to the dream.

Here’s the excel sheet you can use to see the previous 30 sum, and the total combination within each sums.

DP, I really hope you hit it big!  This is interesting though and since I play powerball I think I'll give this a try.

That's a great idea! Thanks DiamondPalace.

I was wondering if you thought this would work for the p3 and p4 games...only looking at fewer draws? Like maybe 10 draws back?

Interesting. Can you do one for the Florida Fantasy Five?

Thank for the kind wordsDawn32 & PERDUE!

@play4keeps: Yes I use this method for 2-3 draws back for Pick 3, and 3-5 draws back for Pick 4.

@joker17: This 30 Sum works best for Powerball and Mega Millions, for other smaller jackpot games it's safe to go back 20 Sum draws. The smaller games have smaller range so we cannot go more than 20 or we'll be missing out on the jackpot. Yes, I'll create one for FL Fantasy 5.

Correction on the total combination eliminated. It's not 752,817 (it is for the 5 white balls), but the total combination with Mega Ball is 34,629,582!!!!! That's cutting it down from the total 175,711,536 leaving us with 141,081,954 to choose from. Again, not much however it is quite significant! Just some clarification.

                        foreverbad64,

Yes, it works for all jackpot games. Recommend 30 previous draws and SUM for Mega and Powerball. While 20 draws and SUM for smaller jackpot games like the Pick 5.

Some people are having errors too. I'll fix it when I have some time. But for now, I want to introduce the idea so people can get started on it, with or without my sheet.

Will upload the new version soon...

Thanks. You should give Mega Million a try, it is a really fun and interesting game. With $1 you have the same chance as everyone who plays.

Is the "30 drawing" point arbitrary or is there a specific reason for that number?

In neo-conned Amerika, bank robs you.

I've back tracked and saw that within 30 draws is a safe elimination range, more then that will not work every draw, and lesser only eliminated few.
