Back in 1988, while living in Tonopah, AZ, I bought a 2 page report for 30 bucks, detailing events of my life based on my birthday. Among other information, my best and worst numbers were mentioned. The best were 514, and the worst was 815.

About a year later I moved to Los Angeles. I bought a 1989 Nissan pickup, which I was using to work with on my job. On 8-15-89, I was first in line at a red light. When it turned green, I slowly started to accelerate, when in the corner of my eye I could see a van coming from the right. The driver T-boned my truck right at the intersection.

She was driving a flower delivery van, and was looking at the next traffic light ahead, not the one I was at, and that's how she hit me. As we exchanged information, I began writing down her work address, which was 815 something something street. I didn't notice this till later. Either it was a very strange coincidence or that report was on to something. It happened on 8-15-89, and her address was 815....hmmmm

A couple of years later I moved to Brooklyn N.Y. My friend already had a house in Canarsie, Brooklyn. As it turns out, the address was 924 Rockaway Parkway, which adds up to 15 (part of 815). Then we moved to Queens N.Y., which the address was 37-14 69 street. 3+7=10 and 1+4=5...10+5-15...69 street...6+9=15. I had many hard times living at both of those addresses.

I'm still waiting on the good numbers 514....lol

It doesn't haunt me but I think of it when ever I need a seed number for my RNG.  419 is my birth date, my telephone area code and has constantly come up in my life in other ways too.

Are there any numbers you are haunted by?

When I was a kid my baseball idol was Jim Gentile of the Orioles. In 1961 he had a heck of a year, (yeah, I know, I'm dating myslef here), batted .302 and had 46 HR and 141 RBI. Over 40 HR and a .302 batting average is always outstanding, along with 141 RBI, a great year. Of course that year this was all overshadowed by Maris and Mantle, but Norm Cash of the Tigers took the batting title with a .361 average.

Well, the next year Gentile batted .251 and I had a friend in school who always said, "Two fifty-one" after that when we talked baseball. (I was an Oriole fan in North Jersey, Yankee territory, so you can imagine. If I had a nickdel for everytime someone said Clete Boyer was a better 3B than Brooks Robinson....)

So anyway, for me 251 is one of those kind of numbers.

450 is another. I remember applying for a bunch of jobs once and no matter what the line of work, it was $450 a week. And a lot of rents were $450 a month.

Another is 17. We have a friend we play MM with and he always plays 17. If you track lotto it's amazing how often it seems to hit. Of course, one number doesn't pay.

        So what numbers haunt you?

Maybe we can create a few "LP Haunted Numbers" tickets out of this!

About 10 years I deduced 8585 was due to come out in the P4 game. I played it and played it without any results, but I was determined to play it until it came. I had been playing it for about 3 weeks when I was ask to visit my parent's place and help them with some home repairs. We got started with the repairs as soon as the sun popped up, but little did I know we would not be able to get them all done until the sun went down again. During that time I did not play the single number I had been playing for the last 3 weeks. I had also been playing it multiple times for each drawing. Sometimes 3 times, sometimes 5.

8585 came in straight that night. I was absolutely livid! I quit playing for a while after that, and for the last parting shot by the lottery that number came again shortly after the first time it was drawn.

It is hard to take when you try to help someone out and get kicked in the teeth for it. That is the day I knew what was meant by the phrase, "no good deed goes unpunished."

And to this day that number and day still haunts me... Mad

23, the number of consecutive losses the Baltimore Orioles lost at the start of the season back in the mid 1980's.

                        5.5, of 5 1 /2, always a "sting number" in a football pointspread.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                        Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
