Below is a download link to a zip file that contains 3 Excel files (Excel 2002).

http://www.box.net/shared/3dj38ebuzr

1.  Create a new folder and name it whatever you like (e.g. C:\ MegaPower

2.  Download the zip file from the link above and save the zip file in the new folder you created in Step 1.

3.  Unzip the 3 Excel files into your new folder.

There are 3 Excel files:

1. MegaPowerDrawHistories.xls - This Excel file contains all the draw histories of the Mega Millions and Power Ball lotteries.  The draw histories only contain the most current matrix.

2. Sums.xls

3. MegaPowerSumsProgram.xls

The main purpose is to select a Sum from either the Mega Millions or the Power Ball game, enter the Sum into the Sums.xls Excel file, generate the Lexi  numbers, and create 10 ticket combinations using the MegaPowerSumsProgram.xls Excel program.

The Excel files were created using Excel 2002 so I can't say if and how these files will work in other versions.

There are instructions in both the Sums.xls and MegaPowerProgram.xls Excel file tabs.

Let me know what you think or if you have any questions.

Have fun!!!

    Instructions for Excel file MegaPowerHistories.xls

The main purpose is to update both the Mega Millions and Power Ball drawings and determine what Sums to play for that particular game.

The histories only contain the most current martrix for each game:

Mega Millions - 5/56 & 1/46 Mega Ball.  There are a total of 503 drawings going back to June 24, 2005

Power Ball = 5/59 & 1/39 Bonus Ball.  There are a total of 133 drawings going back to January 7, 2009

There are Tabs labeled "MegaMillionsDraws" and "PowerBallDraws".  In these worksheets you can update the drawings for both games by clicking the "Click To Add New Drawing" Toolbar.

There are 2 additional Tabs labeled "SumsMM" (Mega Millions) and "SumsPB" (Power Ball). In these 2 worksheets there are calculations for Hits & Skips for the Sums for each of the games.

Here is where you can determine what Sum or Sums you want to play.

Once you've decided what Sums you want to play you can close this Excel file.

      Instructions for Excel file Sums.xls

      Open the Excel file Sums.xls

Go to the Tab labeled "Sums5"

In this worksheet you can calculate the number of Combinations for each of the Sums

Currently the Sums and Combinations are calculated for the Power Ball 5/59 game.  Look at the cell range H3 through L3.  You see the numbers 55 in cell H3 and 59 in cell L3.

If you want to calculate the Mega Millions Game just enter the numbers 52 in cell H3, 53 in cell I3, 54 in cell J3, 55 in cell K3, and 56 in cell L3.  Next click the Toolbar labeled "Click To Calculate Sums and Combinations".

After a few seconds the Sums and Combinations will be appear in cell columns A and B.

You can also see the Total Combinations in cells O2 and O3.

You can use this worksheet for other Pick 5 lottery games other than the Mega Millions and Powerball games.

Next, click the Tab labled "Sums" and go to cell N7.  You will see a list of Steps that you need to perform to generate the Lexicographic Numbers for the Sum(s) you wish to play.

Step 1:  Fill in the 5 numbers for the game you want to play in cell range T2 through X2.  For example, you would enter 55 through 59 in cell range T2 through X2 if you want to play the Power Ball game.  If you wanted to play the Mega Millions game you would enter 52 through 56 in cell range T2 through X2.

So, in this example change the number in cell range T2 through X2 from 55 through 59 to 52 through 56 for the Mega Millions game.

Step 2: In cell R2 enter the Sum you wish to play.  In this example change the Sum of 180 currently in cell R2 to 142

Step 3: Click the Toolbar labeled Step 3

This may take a few seconds to calculate depending on the speed of your computer but once completed it will generate all the Mega Millions Combinations that have a Sum Total of 142 (Cell R2)

Step 4: Click the Toolbar labeled Step 4

This will take all the combinations in cell column A and separate them into individual cells in cell range D through H.  It will also generate all the Lexicographic numbers for each of the combinations for Sum 142

Step 5: Open the Excel file "MegaPowerSums.xls"  Go to the Main Menu at the top and select File > Open and open the Excel file "MegaPowerSums".  This was one of the Excel files you originally downloaded from the Zip file into your new folder.

Once you have the Excel file MegaPowerSums, xls file open go back to the Sums.xls file and click the Step 6 Toolbar.

Step 6: Clciking this Toolbar will copy and paste all the Lexicographic Numbers from cell column J in the Sums.xls Excel file to cell P2 in the MegaPowerSums.xls Excel file Tab labeled "ComboGenerator"

Step 7: Save and then Close the Excel file Sums.xls.

          Instructions for Excel file MegaPowerSums.xls

This file should be currently open.

Go to cell T1 and follow the Steps:

Step 1: Enter the highest 5 digits in your lottery game in cell range F3 through J3.  So for example, using the Mega Millions you would enter 52, 53, 54, 55, 56 in cell range F3 through J3.

Step 2: Press the F9 key on your keyboard to randomly select 10  Lexicographic Numbers for Sum 142 for the Mega Millions lottery game

The Lexicographic Combinations appear in cell column P and the Random numbers for each Lexicographic Number appear in cell colum Q

Pressing the F9 function key will generate 10 random Lexicographic numbers in cell range D8 through D17

Step 3:  Click the Toolbar in cell T7 & T8 "Copy and Paste Random Lex. Numbers"

This will copy and paste 10 Lexicographic numbers from cell range D8 through D17 to D21 through D30.  You will notice that the combinations also changed in cell range D17 through D21.

Step 4:  Click the Toolbar labeled "Click To Calculate Combinations"

This will generate the Lexicographic combinations is cell range D21 through D30 and calculate the actual combinations for each of the 10 Lexicographic numbers in cell range F21 through J30.

Step 5:  10 Combinations appear in cell range L21 through L30

Step 6:  The number of Even & Odd number totals will be in  cell range N21 through O30

If you are limiting your picks to 3 odd 2 even or 2 odd 3 even combinations you will need to go back to Step 2 and generate new Lexicographic numbers.

Step 7:  Go back to step 1 if you want new combinations or go to Step 8.

Step 8:  Verify Lexicographic numbers are correct - Click The Toolbar Below

Clicking the Toolbar will transfer the Lexicographic numbers from cell range D21 through D30 to D34 through D43.  Verify that the combinations are the same in cell range F21 through J30 as cell range F34 through J43.  If the combinations are the same go to Step 9.

Step 9:  Add your Bonus Ball(s) to these combinations!!

          Good Luck!!

I found an error in this Excel file.  I will upload all the corrected Excel files in the next post.

Shouldn't take more than 10 to 15 seconds.

If it hangs just click Control > Break keys (Ctrl > Break) Break key ususally is the button at the right most corner of most keyboards.  Usually Pause/Break Key.

The calculations may take longer on older computers.  If you have other programs open this may also slow down the calculations.
