mr thrifty, your post is a no-brainer, you cannot win unless you play, we already know that, so what is the point?

PS - 'slow and steady wins the race'.  Then how do explain office pools that win with many tickets purchased?

I have never denied the fact that you get more chances by playing multiple tickets.  But it is also a fact that you spend more money in the short run.By the way, based on my observations participating in pools is not such a bargain.  Pools are great for small wins, but when it comes to winning jackpots they are not more successful than individuals.  Unless you consider two people playing a big pool.If you track powerball and mega millions winners history you will be amazed how many jackpots have been won by a single person.  On 8/28/2009 was a day that if you participated in a pool , you will not do it again.  The jackpot was $336 millions for mega millions. You know that most people were being  greedy that day by betting their house.  But not the winner from bronx new york; he won half of it with a single quick pick ticket with the 26 annual payments option.  The other winner was from california, and guess what he also won it with a single quick pick ticket.  He chose cash value option.

I feel that your argument against me is, are we better off playing for more lines?.  And my answer is yes.  But that does not change the fact that, the odds to win the jackpot or any other prizes will change.  They will not change no matter how many lines you purchase.  Every lines faces the same odds of winning.  Yeah, lotteries want you to believe that if you divide ODDS/TICKETS PURCHASED=NEW ODDS or should we say reduce odds by buying more tickets.  That is not the case, you do not reduce your odds by buying more tickets.  You increase your chances of winning until every line is purchased.  Take a look at how many people win by buying 1,2,3,4,5 and 10 tickets; it is a single person that win  most of the times by playing these amounts.I play $5 qp sometimes but i prefer to participate in 4 jackpots games for $4. I put $1 qp in each jackpot game when it reaches a certain amount.Powerball and mega millions when they reach $100 millions, not a bad deal for $1QP.

Every game, theoretically, only requires (1) ticket to win. But, once you calculate the odds in for that (1) combination vs. all the rest of the possibilities it becomes clear that $5 is really worth it. I spent $5 on the Texas Lottery, and, my LAST LINE came within 1-2 numbers of matching them all.

If you think about it, the first four $1 QP's could've been given to others. Had I bought the fifth QP, I would've only spent $1 to get within 1-2 numbers of them all!!! It simply depends on what comes up when dealing with a game of this magnitude. You know?

The more lines you can afford to splurge on, the better. At least you have better chances in the end. Good luck!!Thumbs Up

Thanks for trying to understand. You are absolutely correct , the lottery is a numbers game.  MORE LINES GIVE YOU MORE CHANCES TO WIN, but it cost more.

Thrifty, you REALLY need to go back and chart your own logic, because you are playing both sides of the fence and you can't have it your way in dsicussion, you either pick a theory and defend it, or don't pick any theory and just play the game. But you cannot play and defend both sides.

I feel that you are right about what you are saying.  Therefore, i will just try to win the lottery by being a player. I Will talk the talk and walk the walk by posting the quick pick tickets i play on LOTTERY POST with a link to the actual ticket.

            Why? (post tickets)

            Few others do, almost nobody.

It's more work than it is worth.

Do you know how amazing it would be for someone in LOTTERY POST to win a jackpot or a second prize?, and backing it with a real ticket for the whole world to see before you claim it or after you claim it with the lottery. I seems real to me.
