When Idaho's lottery came out with the Winner Takes All Raffle, I posted that since the tickets cost $20 that they would sell slightly fewer than the previous $10 raffles.  My estimate was that they would sell 200K tickets making the jackpot 2 million.  (Original thread # 230067 has been closed.)

Time passes . . . .

It's now just about 7 hours till the raffle closes, and the jackpot is ...  wait for it ...  less than $180K.  It MIGHT get to 200K if the lottery bothers to remind people that it's ending.

There must have been something wrong with me to think 200K tickets would sell at that price, dont you agree?  So what say you?

    I don't know, HLK.

Maybe there's been an influx of refugees from California moving in.

They can't afford lottery tickets, they've just been taxed into poverty.

I didn't know Idaho had 200,000 people.  Gee, what you can learn just by reading these posts.

The final jackpot ended up being $191K.  Very very sad.  Bet they won't do that again any time soon.

Unfortunately, what they will take away from this is not to do anymore of this type of program. Instead, they need to realize that the $10 one was successful and to continue in that vein.
