I'm curious, so far I have yet to know of any disabled people winning massive jackpots.  I think a blind man won a Canadian lottery one time but that's the only one I know of.

Why do you want to label people? Can't people just be people? Even lottery winners deserve to be just plain people.

NoShame, have you no shame? I don't see why it matters, or why you would waste time in asking this, nor why anyone would seriously reply to this. The answer is a questions.. Who cares?

Wow, people.  Have you no concept of calming the hell down?  It was just a question.  I'm disabled myself.  I wouldn't be asking a question like this in the first place if I wasn't.

Yikes, after I saw the above, I called RoRo, a disabled friend of mine, to get his take...

He hasn't won anything too big, nor has he heard of anyone doing so.

And just on a side, I asked him if he was offended by the question and he said "f_ck no".... Smiley

I've been  young, a factory worker, a veteran, a minority, unemployed and now I'm old and retired and I have yet to win a lottery jackpot but I've read about others with those classifications winning.  With my knees about gone I may also be classified as disabled before it's all over.

I can't quite understand how the question was offensive.  It would be a very inspirational story to hear about someone that is truely disabled winning a lot of $$$ so they could live life to their fullest despite their misfortune.

It seems like there was a guy that won some $$ a while back that was on food stamps?  I don't know why but i want to think i've read about stories with people on disability winning large sums of money.  Or maybe it's their parents that are disabled? I think i read this forum too much, all the stories start running together ROFL

I would venture to guess that many disabled people have won the lotto. I'd also guess that unless the disability was noticable by just looking, some decided not to disclose their disability. I would imagine that the flood gates would open with people looking for handouts trying to use your disability against you.

Lets say you were on disability for depression and you disclosed that at a press conference. Sure it would make a good story but the planet is full of depressed people who now have something in common with you. Having something in common with someone is one way to get inside your psyche and manipulate it.

It might be that a disability isn't as newsworthy as a rags to riches, bad times turned good story. How

many times have we read about an unemployed person running out of benefits, a single mom with her last

dollar or a couple about to lose their home winning the lottery? Plenty.

In my opinion a person with a disabiltiy winning is as newsworthy as all of them combined. Think of the

financial worries some disabled people face, winning a large amount of money could be life-changing for

them. Think of equiptment costs, doctor's visits, medications etc, etc. It would make life less stressful

and would be a blessing to most and a happy ending story worthy of coverage.
