I need information about the numbers/codes printed on Scratch-off tickets. This is for the NC education (NCEL) lottery Scratch-offs. I don't know if different states use different systems.
1. The 12 digits printed in the play area of each ticket. It's a sequence of 12 digits. 8 digits that are non-underlined and 4 digits that are underlined. It's in the form "xxxxxxxx - xxxx".
Store clerks type the 4 digits into a lottery terminal to validate if it's a winning ticket. I guess they're required to enter the number into the system so that the lottery can keep ticket info up to date. Does anyone know how the numbers are determinded? Is there some algorithm or formula used to determine the sequence of digits? And do these numbers have any correspondance to the prize of a winning ticket or the Play Symbols/Prizes (under each Play Symbol) that are printed in the play area of a specific game ticket.
2. The 12 digits printed on the back of each ticket above the barcode... It has the game number, pack number, and the ticket number. It's in the form "xxx - xxxxxx - xxx".
The first 3 digits is the game number, the last 3 digits is ticket number, and from what I understand, the 6 digits in the middle is the pack number which designates the number of the pack from which the ticket originates. How is the pack number determined? Is it just the number of times a pack for a particular game has been printed, in order?? For instance, the 1st pack printed would be number "000001", the 2nd would be "000002", then "000003" and so on. Or is that incorrect? And do any of these 12 digits have any relation to the 12 digits printed in the game area???
3. The little letters/symbols printed in the play area. What do they mean, and is there in order to them? The only consistency I've noticed is that all (or most) of my winning tickets had a "Ø" symbol printed somewhere in the play area.
Thanks in advance for any information.
