If you're wondering why I'm going to Wall Street today (It's Sunday and there aint any financial action going on in The New York Stock Exchange) it's because my 26 year old daughter moved to Wall Street.
This gets rather complicated, but here goes. Perhaps you've heard of The Gambino Crime Family's "Big Paul" Castellano. Big Paul took The Big Fall 30 years ago in December of 1985 when John Gotti's henchmen filled him full of lead right in front of Sparks Steakhouse on East 46th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Manhattan. (I've stood on the very spot in front of Sparks where Big Paul fell.) My daughter used to live on E 46th right down the street from Sparks, but she recently moved to Wall Street. (BTW Sparks really does have the best steaks in Manhattan. They cost 50 bucks, but they're delish! Trust me on that one. Don't worry, I didn't pay for it. My Coast Guard son picked up the tab the day we hit Sparks.)
For you upstate folks, I'm sure you've never heard of something in NYC called "WeWork". It's all the rage/buzz among the twenty-something set in NYC. (Actually, I'd never heard of it either, and I only live 80 miles from NYC. But then, I aint exactly a twenty-something either) Anyways... my daughter got an apartment in something called "WeLive", which is a part of "WeWork." "WeLive" is located at 110 Wall Street. It's in a high rise building that was ravaged by Hurricane Sandy in The Fall of 2012, but it has since been completely renovated. Why do you suppose my daughter went from a street where a Mafia Boss was gunned down, to a building that was destroyed by a "Super Storm"? You figure she likes living where death and destruction are everyday things?
Long story short, we're taking her some of her stuff that she dumped on us when she moved. I'm gonna find me a Lotto Joint on Wall St and blow 25 bucks on a five line/five day ticket. I might even do a 7 day ticket if The Mrs G5 will give me ten bucks. But I aint holdin' my breath on that one. Maybe the daughter is good for a ten spot. After all, I am doin' her a big favor by haulin' all her junk down there. G5
