The top two Take5 hitters of this year are #17 and #29 with 45 hits each.  They're both on track for 60 hits in 2016.  Any number with 60 hits in one years time is usually the number with the most amount of hits for the year. If I did not have the data on Excel spreadsheets to serve as proof of what I'm about to write, if someone verbally told that me that information, I'd refuse to believe it.

Number 17 has been hot since 2012, and #29 has been hot since 2014.

In 2012, #17 had 56 hits, in 2013, it had 55, in 2014 it had the most hits with 59, and in 2015 it again had the most hits with 61.

As for #29, in 2014, #29 had 55 hits, and in 2015 it had 59 hits.

It may not seem like it, but these two numbers have been short skipping for years When numbers get hot, they can stay hot for long periods of time. The crazy thing is, I can't say the same thing for cold numbers. The coldest number of the year has been a different number each year since 2010.

I wish I could tell you how you could use the above info to your advantage, but I cant.  I haven't been able to leverage it to my own benefit.  Try telling the information you just read to another Take5 player that you know.  See what their reaction is.  They're not going to believe it/you. But every word of it is TRUE! G5

I'm baffled by some of the things I wrote above.  But then, I do understand that some T5 number has to be the hottest number of T5's entire history, just as some T5 number has to be the coldest number of all time. In T5's case, #6 is the hottest number of all time (with 827 hits) and #14 is the coldest number with 743 hits over the entire life of the game.

What I don't get is this; Why is it that some numbers get hot and stay hot for long periods of time, but numbers that go cold don't stay cold for extended periods of time???   If the lottery is as random as "the experts" claim it is, why does the phenomenon I described above happen?  If the experts are correct, numbers shouldn't get hot and stay hot for years. The only thing I can think of is that it simply is not as random as mathematical purists say it is.   G5

I hope this doesn't generate 30 pages of mostly nonsense!
Have you ever watched the New York Take5 mechanical ball machines at work?
        A couple of indisputable facts:
        1. The machine has no memory and is dumb as dirt.
        2. The machine doesn't know in advance which 5 of the 39 balls will get through the exit gate.
        3. The machine doesn't know that balls with specific painted numbers have escaped through the exit gate more often than other balls.
        4. The machine doesn't know that certain balls with painted numbers have escaped less often than other balls.
        5. Humans identify and record which balls got through the exit gate.
        6. Humans keep detailed short and long term inventories of the integers on the balls that came through the exit gates.
        7. Humans analyze the short and long term draw results and come up various conclusions about the past activities of dumb machines.
Note: NY probably has 3 or more Take5 machines, and determine which will be used for a specific drawing using some type of confidential selection criterion.
        8. While the ball section inside the mixing machine is not 100 per cent random when the outcomes are analyzed over a period of time (e.g., 1000 consecutive drawings), it's generally accepted that the drawings are sufficiently random for lottery play.
        9. It's called pseudo-random.
My personal view is that gamblers who make play decisions using sum total variations in man-made historical inventories are probably not going to win as often as they would like.
The best we, as serious gamblers, can do is analyze the 'trends' and find ways to identify the integers that seem to have the best chance of being in the next winning combination - and hope the dumb machine output matches our expectations.
It's not rocket science, it's educated guesswork having a poor win/loss ratio.

Good stuff.  I have to agree with just about everything you wrote.

New York might have multiple Take5 machines, I'm not sure if they do or not. There are people that post here regularly that might know how many lotto machines NY has in their possession.

I do know that they rotate the tubes of balls located at the top of the plastic drum.  There are six rotations of those.  They may have multiple sets of ping-pong balls too.

But don't you think it's a bit more than strange that given all the things NY does to make drawings sufficiently random that two numbers (#17 and #29) have been hot for TWO or more years???

BTW - Me a "serious gambler"?   Not hardly.  I play for fun and I enjoy the challenge of studying the numbers to see if I can win a few bucks.  But I never lay down more than I can afford to lose.  And that aint a lot of money. G5

Hey you guys!!  Know what?  The Ole G5'er is really gonna roll the dice!  I sent away for a DNA testing kit! Talk about playin' The Lottery!!

See, I might have the same thing happen to me that happened to Bill Griffeths.  What? You don't know who Bill Griffeths is??  He's a 60 year old guy on CNBC that had his DNA tested, and found out the man he called "Dad" for 50 years wasn't really his Dad!!!!

Musta been a tough conversation with Mom!  (She's 94 now)

Not as dangerous for me though.  My parents went to That Big Lottery Palace in The Sky many moons ago.  Wish me luck!  G5

PS The Mrs G5 says she just cant wait to see what happens.  This is gonna make for some interesting conversation around the Thanksgiving dinner table.
