Ever wonder (as I have) how many T5 jackpots are split among multiple winners? I think everybody here is well aware that if you are lucky enough to have all five numbers, you're more than likely going to share the jackpot with somebody else located in New York State.
It's a winter wonderland outside due to yesterday's east coast snowstorm, and it's too cold to go out, so I'm thinking I'm going to make an Excel spreadsheet today and see how many jackpots were won in November and how many of them were split among multiple players. And because it's early in December, I'll include the jackpots that have been and will be won in December in it, and also track them for the next month and a half. That way I'd end up with three months worth of data, and can probably extrapolate out from that what a full year looks like.
Yesterday while I was watching The Army Navy Game (the roads here were very slippery so I decided to stay home and the best thing I could find on the tube was Army/Navy so I watched it) I asked myself this question; How many people have won a Take5 jackpot since January of 1992 when it all began? I bet it's a lot more people than I think it is. (PS - I wondered that while watching the game because the game was as boring as it gets!)
I suppose I could email The NYS Lottery and ask them, but if they have to do some work to find that out, they'd probably be un-inclined to answer me. I guess I'd have to hit them with a FOIL request - a Freedom Of Information Legislation request to force them to answer me, but I aint going to all that trouble. I dont wanna know all that badly.
When I have some news to share, I'll post it here. But I already know that if you have all five numbers and you're the only person that does, you're a helluva lot luckier than you think because you not only did something that's very hard to do, but you also got even luckier because you won 100% of the jackpot!
