Last Monday I wrote "I was thinking about renewing Lotto Stats because I like the "Best Sets" they publish in the back of LS, but now that it's available in that gas station, I might just buy it in there."
Interesting story about that; On Thursday I went into that gas station and saw the March 28 edition of Lotto Stats, so I bought it. (BTW LS is now $4.95 a copy - it used to be $3.50) I only used the numbers from LS "Best Sets" for my 3 number win of $19.00 on Thursday nite, and I used only the numbers from Best Sets again for my $406 win last nite. A total of $425 of winnings in back to back nites courtesy of LS's Best Sets...
I used #18 as a Power Number and played it on every line I bought. Then I just filled out my betslips by randomly choosing 4 other numbers for each line from Best Sets for every line I bought. (BTW in addition to the 4-bagger, I won 5 Free Plays.) Not bad considering I only bought ten lines of T5 with my $19 winnings. I used the other nine bucks to buy three lines of PowerBall with the Power Play.
Speaking of #18, that was hit #17 in 2018 for #18 and it moved into a tie for the lead with #7. G5
Amazing! I don't think you're going to bore anybody with being positive! I managed to score three 3# hits on Thursday and one last night with a bunch of FPs. Had 4# each night in my mix. I track the Best Sets on page 34 every day in an Excel Report Card, for fun. You'd be surprised at just how often those sets of 22 numbers hit a "jackpot." I get my LS online (download). It's a lot cheaper for the year and I get it a day earlier than the stores (I know you "share" your printer resource with the Mrs.) and if I want to print out a page to carry with me I can....or read it as a PDF on the PC, laptop or tablet. Thanks for all the tidbits...keeps me excited for playing too! Peace. Good luck and Smart Luck!

Thanks and I'm not all that surprised at just how often the numbers in Best Sets have produced some cash for players.
Although I've never tracked Best Sets, there was a time when I tracked the sets Urb Kress recommended/published in Lotto News for Take5. He consistently had two numbers in his sets, fairly frequently had three winning numbers, and occasionally he had four winning numbers. Only once did I see a complete set of all five winning numbers in the sets he recommended. He always had at least one number, never saw a time when he didn't have at least one winning number in the sets he published.
As I look down the page in the current issue of LS for the upcoming T5 drawings, I see #18 is included in almost every set. I guess jackpot seeker is seeing the same thing that I'm seeing in A+. G5

Congrats on the hit!!!
Thanks 'Player! Got the cash in my pocket as I type this.
I had a little trouble cashing the ticket though. First place I went was a liquor store. I told the woman I had a $406 winner but did not hand her the ticket. The woman then said "Oh, I just had a big payout. I cant do it." Now to tell ya the truth, I didn't buy her story a bit, but I didn't giver her a hard time about it. I think it was because it was too early in the day (she had opened the store about a half hour before I showed up) and I think she simply wanted to protect/keep the cash she had on hand so as to be able to make change for her liquor and wine customers. So I said "OK. Thanks" and left the store.
I waited until early this afternoon, and went to a gas station near me. But this time I took a different approach to the clerk. All I said was "I got a four number winner here" and handed the ticket to the guy. He scanned it and the lottery terminal played that jingle it plays when you have a winner. He then looked at me and said "Oh. I should have asked you how much you won." I just shrugged and said nothing. He then said "Hold on" and walked into his office where I couldn't see him. He came out a minute later with $406 cash in his hand and gave it to me. That taught me a little something. I think because he scanned the ticket and the terminal played that "winners tune", he was on the hook to cash it. If he hadn't scanned the ticket, he could have refused to do it, but since he scanned it, I don't think he had any choice but to go get the cash in his office.
I can understand the stores reluctance to cash big winners, but they did sign up to be a lottery retailer. If they want to sell the tickets and make money doing so, then they need to honor the contract they have with The NY State Lottery and cash winners less than $600 without giving players a big line of BS. YUP! You forced the gas stations hand. We have Royal Farms around here, they SUCK for payouts!! They keep a 'drawer' that is specific for lottery transactions. so what happens is a double effect. First if the employee who is responsible for the drawer is not around then no one else will help you!! Second, even if they are there they will only pay what is in the drawer. From what I understand the drawer starts with like $200 in it. So if you have a winner with more then that they often do not have it. The one time I had a $290 winner (572 st/bx) and a manager took the extra step to pay me, I was paid in 5 $20's 15 $10's 6 $5's and 10 $1's....the drawer was left with like 4 $1's after paying me
Oh and then when you try to BUY lottery tickets from them, again if the person who is responsible for the drawer is not around they will ONLY accept EXACT change for your purchase. So if you are buying $3 worth of tickets you have to have 3 ones, if you have a 5 or 10 they will not sell the tickets.

Yeah, I did force their hand, but after I left the gas station I realized what I had done was risky.
My thinking is that after a ticket has been scanned, it must be paid out. That's because a winning ticket can only be paid one time. After it's been paid, a ticket could be scanned a second time, but the computer that the lottery terminal is attached to is not going allow it to be paid out a second time. So if the gas station truly didn't have the necessary cash on hand to cover the pay out, then what would happen???? I could have found myself in a situation where I was in possession of a ticket that was scanned by a retailer, the retailer could not cover it, and no other retailer is going to pay out the $406 I had won. Not good. So if you do what I did in that gas station yesterday, know that you're sticking your neck out a little.
To be fair to lottery retailers (at least in the State of New York) there's a lot that's invisible to players when it comes to selling lottery tickets to the public. I know this because I used to work with a woman whose husband owned and operated a "corner store" that sold lottery tickets. She told me a few things about it that made me understand things better from the retailers point of view. "First of all, the retailer does all The States bookkeeping for them, and that takes a lot of time" according to her. "For the amount of profit a retailer makes on just selling tickets, all that time spent on bookkeeping makes it almost not worth the effort to sell them. What all retailers want is for someone to walk into their store and buy a huge winner so the retailer can get a nice check for themselves because they sold a multimillion dollar winner. That's what makes all the time spent on doing The States bookkeeping worth it." She made a fair point.
She also told me when the retailer pays out a big winner ($599 or less) they might not get cash back from The State. Instead the retailer might get a credit on brand new scratch off tickets for the amount of money they paid out on winning tickets. "That's fine, but as a retailer you don't know how long it's going to take to sell those new scratch offs so as to be able to recoup the money you originally paid out, and there are times when a retailer needs a large amount of cash quickly." That made sense to me too. G5

Hey GF,
To avoid that scenario I used to always go to the supermarket (preferably a big chain one) because the liquor stores, card stores and even the 7-eleven's and were notorious for either "just paid out a winner" or just opened and not enough cash on hand ... You definitely don't want them to scan any ticket for you without first making sure they have the dough!
You ever notice when you have a good amount of FP's like these that they give clues of upcoming draw numbers ... especially the repeaters (ex 1-28, 2-28, 19, 22, 32, 36). Let's see what happens! Good luck tonight!
