It would be a bad bad idea. That money the states are making now would end up leaving the country as many of us would look to other countries to fill our needs. It wouldn't be a good step morally either. I don't believe there is anything morally wrong with gambling, so long as your not spending your kids college tuition, the rent/mortgage money etc..

harry's candy store, franklin+loudon philly pa.(no longer exists, i mean the entire neighborhood)

many times we saw the cops come and close his store, haul him off to jail.maybe late w/ his payoff ?

he was always back the next day, maybe it was all a dog +pony show on payoff day,

and they were just giving him a ride to keep the $ safe, harry did'nt have a car,

and many times i seen him waiting for a bus carrying a big suitcase,i know it was full of cash. LOL

Wow! Some of you old school guys have seen some real interesting history! Reminds me of the early Godfather movies in littl' Itay section of NYC.

Also brings back great memories of "The Sting" with Paul Newman and Robert Redford.    Banana

My wife would surely be jumping for joy as it means more bags and shoes.

Suspiciousness is one way of saying that one do not want to know the truth. It is the best way to keep the mind empty and the spirit restless.

Similar to the era of Prohibition, what if public outcry and government intervention outlawed the gambling industry, including all the state run lotteries.

                Smash                                                                                             No No                                                                                                    Crying

Would you try to find another venue for your lottery fix? Perhaps look for, or even form your own numbers racket?   Type

Do you think this would be a good moral step forward for our country, or see this as "Big Government" butting their nose where it didn't belong?

If you were not able to gamble anymore, how would you instead spend that discretionary money?     Roll Eyes             What?

Probably get better payouts from the "outlaws". Yes Nod

Plus, you know they'd let you claim anonymously. Thumbs Up

In neo-conned Amerika, bank robs you.

Don't see why they would. The government gets a lot of free money through the lottery.

We would go back to the bad old days of Numbers Men, and the state would lose out on the revenue. If people think state lotteries are bad, and I don't believe that, illegal lotteries are far worse. Prohibition of alcohol did not work very well, except for the Mafia.

We all get a lot out of lotteries!
