How big of a tip would you give the clerk that sold you the winning ticket of this world record Mega Millions?

It depends. I have always assumed I'd give them the Gov't standard of $13,000 if I won a normal jackpot. Being this big? Well, I'd have enough accountants, advisors, and so forth to find a way to give them more.

I go to the same store all the time. I told the clerk that always sells me tickets i would buy her a new car if I won by myself.

When the jackpot is pumped up I try to 'tip them beforehand' - yesterday I played a ticket and then played the same numbers for the clerk and gave her the ticket.

Always nice to know someone else is rooting for the same numbers.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I would absolutely tip the clerk.  Especially since I go to the same store every time I play....and its usually the same girl.  Today when I bought my tickets she gave me a smile and said "good luck I hope you win."  She always says it to me, but I never hear her say it to other people.

For a jackpot of this size, I would tip her a good $100,000 if it was the QP.  If its my own numbers that win it, I'd probably "only" give her about $50,000.

I read somewhere that the store that sells the winning ticket will get $1 million.  Is that true?

It depends on how good they are at keeping their mouth shut.
