It does seem to me there is a problem there. If you feel you really need to be in on a win, choose one game or one scratcher. Don't carry any more than that is needed to buy that one game or scratcher in store. When urge occurs, tell yourself you are in on the game... or have the scratcher..
Good luck with the urges.. You need it more than luck with a win...
Hi tntea,
I like your advice about choosing one game or one scratcher. Right now I'm not in the right mindset to do that but hopefully will get there. Thanks for your well wishes about the urges.

the 1st step in dealing with a problem , is recognising there is a problem. congrats on taking the 1st step. My prob is i feel as soon as i win it will maek it all better. all my losses woll be recovered etc.
:/
just set yaself a budget, or better yet a goal that reqquires positivwe work to earn the right to buy the ticket.
i try to set "walk 30 min ea day " to earn 1$ spend on keno. no walk no keno.
Hi savagegoose,
Even when one realizes that they have this kind of a problem stopping cold turkey is not easy and can't seem to do it. What you said about "as soon as I win it will make it all better" is how I feel and that's what is getting me into trouble with playing the lottery. I like your philisophy about "walking 30 minutes each day to earn 1 dollar to spend on keno or no walk, I'm not very good at exercise though I hear it can help depression like I have.

Yeah, I've been spending more than I intended at the beginning of the year. But I usually can control the urges. I won $100 on a scratcher a couple Sundays ago, and I rarely buy them. I bought them while buying my jackpot tics for the week. So last Thursday I bought a couple more $5 scratchers, only won $5. Ok, last Sunday I bought 2 more scratchers while buying my weekly tics, no winners. Ok, I thought, that's enough.
So, tonight on the way to the store to buy the office pools tics I decide to buy a $2 scratcher. But when I'm at the store, I decide against it. Just walked away from the machine. It's so easy to get hooked on playing one more game, buying one more ticket. Next thing you know, you've spent twice what you intended to spend for the week. Remember, the odds are against you. Play for fun, not for the money. Because the vast majority of the time, the money is not gonna come.
Good luck.
Hi rcbbuckeye,
That's great that you can control your urges, I'm not at that stage yet. Congrats on your 100 dollar scratcher win, especially since you said you rarely buy them. As you can see when you won that 100 dollars it's very easy to start buying the scratchers, it's good that you realized it was better to walk away from the machine. That's the problem, that I haven't been playing for fun but for the money that is most likely not going to materialize.

Hi Shyguitar,
Some people can control their gambling but many people can't...won't even admit it. You've done the hardest part. On my part, I just do lottery syndicates in UK and not scratch cards. Scratch cards feeds on peoples impulsivity. With lottery, you have to wait at times for result.
From the sound of it however, you will not very good in controlling your gambling. Most of us talks about winning but admittedly I've lost more than I won.
Try to look at this site for help with problem gambling
Thanks for sharing that website with me. It's good that you do not play scratch cards and you are right about it "feeding into people's impulsivity". I also have lost more than I've won, I really never should have counted on something like a lottery win in the first place. The people who do win the lottery are few and far between. It's interesting on my state lottery website they always list the names and the amount of money they won (in my state you can't be anonymous), yet there is never a mention of how many people daily lose. Today I was in a convenience store and happened to notice their trash bucket was briming with losing lottery tickets.

This is interesting and shy here lies the problem with 90% of number players patience and budget first come to terms that you are a gambler second learn how to gamble if you cannot do either then a simple solution is to stop ! What I do with my subscribers is to show them that you can win on regular
If you can overcome the two the thing I mentioned I first get them from under the illusion that you will win everyday and settle for 2-4 hits a week srt or not a hit is a hit most of these players don't hit once a month don't be fooled you just have the courage to admit it ! Most players don't have the budget to win on a Day to day basis. When you are playin from a group of 30 to. 40 numbers Im just being honest that about 600 bucks a week 2400 a month to win 500 maybe ? Yeah right don't make sense to me my advice to you would be to find one of the many posters on this site whos numbers are winnings in the state you are playing ,,stick with that poster I suggest you find one. Posting less then 20 numbers since budget is a issue for you the next time you visit your playing store grab a handfull of playin slips and go ahead and fill out your playing numbers so you don't get. Side track every time you log back on the post and see another poster may have had the winning numbers that day then you are ready to switch numbers wich happens to a lot of people a common thing you may hear is (I was just on that number ) I to have fallen victim to this does not bother me that much since I rarely play the same numbers ...... But I promise if you change thos few habits and find the right number poster on this site wich there are many thing will change for you good luck to you ..

Hi 30 predictions,
Thanks for your response. In terms of the games I play when it comes to PB or MM I tend to buy one ticket per game sometimes playing the MM and PP sometimes not, and usually it's a quickpick (though today I picked a set of #s). My bigger problem lately has been with the scratchers and playing those daily when in the past would not be playing that often. The last week it seems I'm on a mission to buy scratchers (though these past two years have bought MM and PB each week). I hear what you say about finding another poster who might have the winning numbers but I'm not very good at following those things and lately feel like I should at least stick to my buying only one ticket for the MM and PB (I realize it's not a good strategy for me to win anything by playing that way but at least it's not going overbudget on those games). If I could somehow get away from purchasing scratchers that would be a welcome relief but just can't stop doing that now. Today when I was getting my car inspected at a gas station right up the street from me there happened to be a sign in the window that said someone a few weeks ago won 10,000 on a 20 dollar scratch ticket (all I could think about was why wasn't that me since I have bought many tickets at this gas station but usually only win back the price of the ticket).

Well what state do you play in ? Leave the scratch off
Alone unless you buyin whole roll ,,, and if you could hit the pic three games would you play ?ican gurantee it's a lot cheaper Cause if your aim is just to win 10k you are a lot better off with the numbers trust that so if your willin to stop scratch offs for atleast a week and try numbers I will help but I kind of get the feeling that if I get you a few wins you will go buy several scratch off rolls lol

Hi amilby30,
My aim was to win 100K or more but at this point my goals have changed and was hoping to get a win of 10 to 20K (even that seems impossible). I'm in Mass and last week I did try the Daily Numbers Game twice but not really sure how it works. The first time I played 4 numbers and second time the clerk said most people play 3 numbers. I spent a dollar but not really understanding the playing since I'm not use to playing the daily numbers. I would be willing to try it if it meant I might have a chance to win something. Any help would be appreciated.
