How do I find out if tickets bought for consecutive drawings ever win either of the top two prizes in Mega Millions or Powerball?
Some state lotteries have a page where they show some of the winners holding the large check with the amount they won and I saw a MM check written for $250,003 and a PB check for $1,000,007. Saw a few lesser prize checks with amounts that indicated either there was more than one winning line on the same ticket or it was a multi-draw that had matched 2 + 1, 1 + 1, or 0 +1 in a previous drawing.
Since the jackpot checks are the amount of the annuity or the cash amount, we wouldn't notice if that player had another winning line on the same ticket or if the ticket was for multiple drawings. Any time we read where the winner has played the same numbers for years, there is a good possibility they bought multiple drawing tickets. It's probably happened a few times but the question never was asked at the news conference.
